Put key in this morning says coolant is low.

So had a look and it's on the min line.

So where can I get coolant and from where I have halfords near by I can go after work.

Is there any special coolant I need for the tdi fr model?

Please advise?

Car is due a service so proll reason it's low?

There are several different types of antifreeze, depending on the age of the car.

G11 VW spec TL774C Blue/Green colour
G12 VW spec TL774D Red/Pink
G12+ VW spec TL774F Purple

G12+ can be mixed with G12 or G11.
G12 cannot be mixed with G11

Halfords Advanced Antifreeze is G12 equivalent
Comma XStream G40 is G12++ equivalent (TL774G)
Comma XStream G48 is G11 equivalent.

Depending on the colour of the antifreeze already in your car, I hope this helps you choose the right one.

Mine is red pink colour.

Just put a bit of water in for now till I get halfords after work.

Before I put water in noticed the coolant was above the minimum line so does it expand after engine use?

Looks like VW have replaced G12+ with G12++.

The ETKA database shows 'coolant addative, plus (lilac) replaced by coolant addative, plus-plus, on 01.08.11'. No colour given for the replacement addative.
