I've been trying to find a compressor map for the vf34/20 - can anyone point me in the right direction?

googling brings up loads of VF34 IHI comparisons

Thanks Bill much appreciated.... had no luck with google... maybe searching for the wrong thing.

Steve, Just interested really.... I want to look at the efficiency of the turbo at the pressure ratio I plan to run (2.45).... and see what it's like at higher boost that some others have run/are running. :)

Also, considering I plan to run lower boost, my charge temps will hopefully be lower which will solve the problem of current lack of intercooler availability for the LC that efficiently cools when the power output is over 300+bhp.

With the lower charge temps, the Forge may yet be up to the job.

Compresser efficiency from inefficien to ultra efficient will only vary from low 60's to mid 70's percent, so your actual charge temp will only vary by a few degrees peak.

Same thing applies to intercoolers, so unless you have a masively undersized one, (or a side mount), it'll make little or no difference.

If you really want to bring your charge temps down, use water injection.

The only interesting thing you'll find from a compresser map is peak flow, and peak pressure ratio.

Did you ever log your charge temps with your FMIC Wilko?
Aren't you meant to be in Brazil? ;)

I am in brazil, but tintinet is everywhere.
Charge temps would b 30C over ambient (max) with IHI at 21psi, and fmic.
Aquamist dropped 10C of max temps.

New turbo which is 5-10% more efficient sees intake temps within a few degrees. In fact, it's within experimental error.

how much room was there between compressor housing and cyl head/block john on your 18G on Jabba mani?

none.
A little grinder action was necessary to the head casting, and a small amount on the block to make it fit.

If I did it again, I'd make a 5mm laser cut stainless spacer to fit between the head and the jabba mani, to space it from the block/head, and maybe another between mani and turbo.
Longer studs would be needed to.

raf just get it fitted and mapped and leave it to the experts to worry about the tech stuff;) the vf34 is a tried and tested turbo so dont worry about it:D

The same kinda things I considered on mine (bigegr spacers req'd mind) but then thought nah.... make it no compromise for flow in and out and easier fitment - ker-ching $$ later, new mani and DP and top mount.
Its just so damned tight under there is'nt it. 6spd even worse.
Makes the Owens one look like one of the few upgrades possible on an underslung mani like JS.

I can't help myself - I need to know the hows and whys.... I just have an inabillity to stop being inquisative..... :D

It's all pretty much a done deal now - just waiting for someone to return from across the pond. ;)

Also, a chap from this forum with an MRC mapped Ibiza is planning to pop up with me on Sunday if the weather is still good for the strip. :) Fingers crossed.
