Done lots of searching for this with plenty of posts about it with ppl saying they are going to mention at next service etc.

But no actual posts on what the mechanics said it was.

My dash makes the most annyoing clicky/tapping/squeek type sound but only does it when the car is cold. (sounds like its coming from centre - quite close to right side of stereo)

I'm still trying to work out wat could possible only rattle when cold??? Only thing I can think of is something is expanding with heat stopping the noise. But what could possible expand that much the noise simply goes away?

As for the rear clunky noise which is REALLY loud, I've got plenty insipration from here so I'm pretty sure I can find out what that is when it stops raining. Shall start with the rear seats. but sounds more like the boot area to me.

The main creak i got is just where the steering wheel meetings the dash. There is a piece of plastic that moves when you adjust the steering wheel. Drives me mad and been creaking non stop since winter hit. Definitely going to get this sorted.

I have had this for a while, easily sorted by applying a thin film of silicone spray, just pull steering column all the way out, wipe a thin film over the ridged plastic bit with a clean cloth and reset the steering column.

Usually keeps the creaks away for 8 months or so!

I find that unlocking the movement mechanism, moving the steering wheel slightly then relocking gets rid of it for a few weeks.

Not a 2005 model FR is it? Is the dash sitting slightly high on the passenger side?

I took my old FR back to the garage several times for squeaks & rattles from the dash area.

First they said it was something to do with the passenger side airbag... next time it was something to do with the air vent ducting...

After the third attempt, the squeaks & rattles were completely cured!

They removed the whole dashboard & found one of the mounts had snapped. They ordered a new one, and it was different to the one fitted. Turned out the wrong mounts had been fitted at the factory. They ordered more and replaced the lot. Job done :D

The slight creaking from the steering column was still there, but nowhere near as annoying as the rattles / creaks / squeaks from the dash!

Yeh its a 2005 FR :(

Just rung my local garage about it - wasn't realy interested! Basically said its when two pieces of plastic are cold and rub they make a noise.

Don't fancy taking the whole dashboard off myself!!!! Sounds like a nightmare!
