Hiya, on thursday i had warning light on dash for ECU so managed to drive to independent garage on max 1900 revs. diagnositics stated it was coil on cylinder 2 after showing on 3 originally and garage swapped coil to test in number 2. so replaced coil pack. when i picked the car up on drive home about 3-4 miles sudden loss of power - revs dropped to 0 fast! and couldnt get car started again so garage came out tested at side of road but did not get any reading at all from ECU - stated no system detected!! my car is with the garage at mo ready for investigations on monday. wondering if anyone has experienced this or any ideas?? because at the moment it seems a new ECU is needed and thats ridiculous for 6 year old vehicle. any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers.

Water in the ECU? If so then take it apart, let it dry on a radiator then clean it all with electrical cleaner.

big apologies for not updating on the outcome!
the problem was with the new coil pack blowing the fuse to the ECU - therefore no ECU detected. so simply replaced fuse and had new coil pack and all is good -so far.

Thanks for your responses.

This happened to me last year, at a cost of £900. Apparently a coil pack went and blew back to the ecu.

I'm never ever taking my car to a garage again
