Looking for a bit of help/advice/thoughts on a Leon matter!

Ive got a Platinum Grey LCR 2004. I had a coil pack go on it back in January which my friend (a mechanic) and I replaced on cyclinder number four. Last month on a motorway trip I had to get the AA out cos it was misfiring like hell and the guy replaced the coil pack on cylinder number one. Today it is misfiring slightly again but intermittently, more sort of coughing, and with a decent amount of unburnt fuel coming out the back.

I am assuming that it is probably a coil pack again but 3 in 5 months seems a bit much. My little brother says that it could be electrical or something like that. It is using PFR6Q NGK plugs, and is ALWAYS run on super unleaded or shell v-power.

Sorry for the essay, just trying to see if anyone can help or has any thoughts on the matter as I am a relative novice.

Thanks

It is likely just to be another coil pack mate.

By all accounts, once one goes, the others have a habit of following. Many people on here have had the same problem as you, but others last ages in between them going.

Get it changed and get a spare to put in your boot. When it happens again, you can change it there and then.

Cheers mate, I am hoping that is what it is, just a bit irritating really that theyre all going. The AA guy said the one that he took out had been in it since new. Provided that its cylinder 2 or 3 thats gone this time I will probably replace the pair of them, cos the guy said that the newer editions of them are a lot more reliable....? That would give me 4 new(ish) ones.

Ok cool, we replaced the plugs when the first coil pack went (forgot to mention that). Just as well there is a SEAT Dealer near me, not lol.

vwspares.co.uk have the newer ones. But to be honest, non genuine ones should be just as good. They are a little cheaper too.

Mine have been in since new, first one blew at 67k.

Got all mines replaced when the first went and was told there was actually a fire risk logged against the older ones (2001 model). Been running about 18 months now with no issues.
