hey guys, over the last few days my clutch pedal has decided to stick half way up when u lift my foot off. it will pop back up after a second or so. ive taken a few pics to show u where i think the problem lies.

theres a rod that goes in and out which seems to be leaking some kind of oil. would this be why it sticks ???

not sure if the pedal will snap like but you defo need a new master cylinder fella, i did all mine a few thousand miles ago, nightmare when they start fully playing up

The cheaply welded metal box on the side of the peddle that the piston and clip go into fails / snaps and needs re-welding. Happened to mine recently. Already welded it once so bought a new pedal from stealers (£26 IIRC)

from reading this id say its just the master cylinder has gone as theres hydrolic oil leaking.

not sure about the snapped.. would this be why its leaking or is this a different part

no mate the seals give up in the cylinder through wear and tear, which causes clutch fluid to leak giving you a drop in pressure and air in the system, which is where the pedal sticking half way comes into it, wait till your sitting at the lights in gear and you lose pressure, car will start to pull away, jam in gear and stall, lotsa fun ha ha. It can be done DIY but as kevpool says its a ball ache, i had my clutch, master, slave and bleed valve done at the same time so it was replaced in a garage, id shot it in a garage its only an hours labour to someone who know what there doing, cylinder is around £40

Have you had clutch pedal failure recently, as described in the linked thread above? When the pedal failure happened to me, the shock was enough to cause the master cylinder seals to fail and start leaking. Which is what you've got - clutch master cylinder seal failure. As far as I know the only fix is a new master cylinder, as seal kits are not available. Check your brake fluid reservoir, as this also feeds the clutch system, and if the level gets too low you'll lose clutch control.

gotta ring the warrenty company as well. hopefully im covered, i can tell its gettin worse the more i drive it. wont be able to book into a garage near me untill next thursday :(
