This should work on a Toledo TDi 130?

Looks like a good price and specs, had anyone used a CG MOTORSPORT clutch?

Yep very cheap and very nasty, i wouldn`t fit it to my car if you gave me one.
1 ) It`s a paddle clutch which is the least friendly type of clutch you can have, very on/off.
2 ) No mention of the clamp load of the pressure plate which does a lot of the work.
3 ) The clutch is rated at 405 NM = 298.7 lb torque, same as a stock clutch! Helix clutches are rated 370 lb torque minimum, Sashs 345lb and thats with just a plain organic disc and uprated pressure plate. Helix cerametallic paddle clutches are rated 475lb torque.

Finally ordered a new clutch from Allards today. Was getting more and more frustrated that I could not accelerate quickly when I needed to, also I smelt a bit of burning.

The guy at Allards said I should only need a friction disk and release bearing as that's the part that gets worn the most - hopefuly that's right, as I don't want to pay another 4 hours labour to fit a pressure plate.

Looks like the disk has reduced down to £178+vat. So total including VAT and Postage will be around £250

Hoping that will fix my problem! Just need to find someone to fit it now for a reasonable price.

Slipping clutch.. parts confusion

I've got my uprated Helix friction disk and release bearing from Allards. Been to see a mechanic friend of mine who does my MOT and other bits for me.

He doesn't want to risk stripping the car down to find that the flywheel or Cover drive plate are worn.

Now I'm confused about what to do, the slipping is getting annoying and I think it's getting worse.

Is it worth risking just getting the friction plate installed or should I order a flywheel and Cover drive plate as well. Are Allards likely to accept back any unused items? When I ordered the friction disk, the guy at Allards convinced me that I would only need a friction disk and cover plate would probably be ok.

Car has now done about 39,000 miles.

Thanks.

How did you get on with this AP?

Ive been toying with the idea of having a map for ages but in the knowledge that I'd probably need a clutch, have put the idea on hold.

May be getting a windfall soon though so am interested again :)

Have a look at my other Clutch Slip Thread:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=139434

Basically I've got an uprated friction disk. I will buy a standard Luk Dual mass Flywheel and clutch kit (to get the pressure plate) and get the lot fitted.

So in total I would have spent about £253 (uprated disk and release bearing) +£353 (all the other bits) then labour. Allards do an organic uprated friction disk and pressure plate but it's about £500.

I'm trying to find someone that will fit it for me at the moment.

Hopefully that will be the end of my slipping problems!

I could get the remap taken out, but I may have a worn clutch anyway, so I think I'll just get it sorted out now rather than later.

start of rant

why do we keep accepting this from our cars??? I have had 2 ibiza cupra diesels and perfectly happy with them and seat apart from their attitude to clutches. my first cupra (both are standard) started to slip at 8k miles[:@] was advised by seat that only warruntied up to 3k miles. was advised when buying the new one that it would not be included in the service and parts package as if the clutch was worn it would be excessive use which caused the failure and actually stated that the clutches were not up to the job. (last bit i promise) i know that i was driving the first car wrong as never driven a diesel before and was just mashing the pedal but surely if a part of the car cannot handle the power of another part of the car then it needs to be upgraded in the factory.

im sure we'll all agree on this not sure what we can do bar a mass meet at a seat uk base:whistle: but i fell better for my bitchin'

sorry:ban:

Finally going to get my clutch fitted on Thursday/Friday for £200. Ive got a Luk (marked as Sachs) Dual Mass Flywheel, Luk pressure plate (marked as Sachs), Luk release bearing and a Helix uprated friction disk from Allards. Looks like the friction disk is a 5 paddle cerametallic one, which researching has an on/off feel. But Allards mention this on their site:

"Due to the five paddle design the initial bite of the clutch is firm but not too harsh as normally associated with drive plates of this type. This can be used in a ‘daily driver’ with no compromise to driving style."

I am hoping the clutch won't be too annoying for me especially in traffic. Anyone had this particular one fitted?

I did enquire with Allards about an Organic version, but they said I needs an uprated pressure plate as well and would cost £531 in total!

Now if only I didn't remap my car. I would have had another £1075 in my bank!

This may be too late in the day for you but others may benifit.

At 45K the clutch on my 04 Cupra TDi started to slip and I had not even had the remap.

Transpires that the clutch / mechanisum was faulty and this has been seen by Seat  Fortunatly for me the work was done on warrenty.

The fault manifested when the engine was in boost between 2500-3000RPM. during these revs the engine would race up to 3500RPM but this could be periodicaly.

Hope this helps someone.:drive2:
