and h8kky i do have to lift the pedal with my toe all the time at the moment, seems to be worse when the weathers cold but that could just be me!

The funny thing is though everytime i go to westec the guys are extremelty busy, especially Jock and when i discussed the problem with Grant he didnt seem as if he knew what the problem was?

i dont mean to be rude, but dont panic about the clutch too mate, one thing at a time.

I reckon its just a design fault with the clutch pedal itself, My gears disengage when fully pressed, so its not dragging the clutch, so that cant have done the damage, also you would smell it if it was dragging thus knackering it.

The clips are 23p from a dealer. I have a spare clutch cylinder i brought to replace mine with, never done it as im convinced theres nothing wrong, got used to the pedal sitting slightly lower than the others, i used a new clip, made no difference, as i said i think its something to do with where the clip sits, as to whether it comes back up all by itself, i also changed the pedal spring made feck all difference.

Or the other option coudl be, the dealer was right about mine all along, and the pedal box is cracked and somehow the bracket for the clutch pedal (bar) has shifted thus giving me incorrect pedal feelings.

Its interesting to see the amountb of stress the clutch pedal takes, go into your engine bay, look near the brake fluid resovior, below to the right with two bolts, get a mate to work the pedal and see how much the whole bulkhead bends, that has to be part of it surely. :)

your worrying like i used to, i've kind of got used to it, and its been over a year now :)

somethings deffinatly wrong though, im struggling to engage gears and it crunches when engaging reverse (which has no syncromesh) so the clutch is deffinately not fully engaging.

It was fine before the weld on the side of the pedal snapped and the pedal was removed from the car and then refitted

so somethings up!

so if your in 1st, stationary, with clutch in and handbrake off, is it biting and pulling forward?

I have about 2 inches before the biting point from bottom

its almost biting i would say but i have to nail the clutch to the floor hard with my toe and it crunches going into gear, u know the car kinda makes a slight grone and you get a shake through the chassis

no it hasnt been like that since it was refitted, the clutch pedal had the play in it at the top of its resting place (i.e. a approx 2inch gap of movement before the clip came into contact with the rod) which needed sorting but it worked fine, now ive got even less movement, ive got the feeling the pedal box weld is at fault which has moved where the pedal hinges from which would explain there being less throw in its operation?

it sounds like you need a new clutch master cylnder,i replaced mine at weekend as gear change was getting very hard,i had to keep lifting pedal with foot too!the seals go in them and they leak, check to see if its leaking fluid, its just an idea,

ive had another look today, im sure the clip that is inserted into the box on the side of the pedal is too short and had snapped but i hadnt noticed as when the pedal is sat at its resting place (not being operated) the rod looks like its almost about to drop out of the end, im going to order some new clips tomorrow and see if they are different!
