Clutch moves side to side!? Help

As title says, my clutch has started to move from side to side and a clicking sound, all welds seem fine and I can't find any info on this.

The pedal itself, when letting off clutch you hear the click, which i initially thought was the clutch spring but I'm completely lost with this, the movement is the whole pedal which seems like a shim inside of the pedal box?

I must admit my first response to this was 'COOL!'

However, is it all the pedals or just the clutch? Could be the whole mechanism wearing. Strange that the welds have lasted long enough for that to happen though :p

Has the pedal box collapsed on you yet? As it sounds like it's about to happen as there is a plastic clip/ shim that snaps and the pedal hits the floor
Another great seat safety device that fails !
Welding is the pedal is best when this happens to stop it happening again

Not happened yet, possibly to previous owner? Yeah just the clutch moving, id say a good inch from left to right so quite violent, you think its a case of getting a new pedal box?

Sounds like it needs further investigation. As it's an quick easy fix to weld it up and alot cheaper than replacing

Had a mechanic look and he was stumped too! Is replacing the pedal box my only option or a trip to the stealers in order?

Nothing really, think I'm not overly sure I know what I'm looking for... Any one in the Ely area fancy taking a peak?

The pedal's are all 'hung' from a bar that goes across the footwell.

On each end of the bar there should be a clip holding it in place. So that the bar doesn't move.

In order to remove the pedals you need to unclip each end of the bar, to allow you to shim the bar along, so that you can remove the pedals. Check whether this bar has a clip on each end.

The clips are identified here as numbers 5 and 17, and the bar is number 16.
