Climate Control System Niggle

Hello all,

I'm trying to sort a small niggle with this system on my wife's Leon. She has the dual-zone system (driver and passenger independant temerature zones), but we don't like the way it works!

On my Octavia which has an almost identical system, the driver's temp control acts as master and overrides the passenger temp control until a passenger uses their control, then the controls are independant until next ignition cycle.

On the Leon, both temp zones are always independant, which means if she is the only one in the car, she always feels the need to adjust BOTH zones in order to reach a desired temp, otherwise the two zones might (in theory) be fighting against eachother! (although I'm sure the difference is software-limited in practise?)

I have access to VAG-COM/VCDS if it's a simple setting somewhere?

Cheers,
Richard.

1. Set different temps for driver and passenger (so you can see when the change takes effect).
2. Hold down the AUTO button for a few seconds...
3. You'll see the passenger side temp changes to match the driver's side.
4. They'll now be in sync until the passenger changes their temp setting (after which, you'll need to hold down the AUTO button again if you want them in sync).

:)

you just hold the auto button then both sides are controlled by the drivers side until you press the passenger side controls.

^^ what he said!

Press and hold the 'AUTO' button for around 5 seconds - this will link the two zones until the passenger changes their temperature

Thanks everyone, I'll go and give this a try now then :)

Is this "single zone" operation retained after an ignition cycle?

Yes, it remains in operation indefinitely until the passenger adjusts their target temperature. After which point, the two zones are independent indefinitely until you repeat the AUTO button long-press.

Ah, I see. With the Octavia setup, it *does* return to single-zone even if the passenger uses their control, after an ignition cycle. With the Leon, it remains in one or the other, depending on use-history. Makes sense!

Took me a while to work this out! Annoyingly not put in the manual.

I'm glad you've confirmed that is the case. I'm a geeky manual-reading type, so would probably have noticed if it had been in there. Was wondering if I'd missed something obvious :D

Surprised this isn't in the manual, but looks like you're right!

And it clearly did confuse/frustrate a few people, cos they sorted it out at the facelift by adding a dedicated "DUAL" on/off button to the climate system!

This annoyed me for the first week or so that i had my car! Then had the sense to do a search on here and find the answer!

Just a quick related question, which I asked elsewhere a few weeks back, does or should the "Recirc" button light up when pressed, as the Heated Rear Screen and Front Screen Defrost buttons do above it?

Recirc does not, it instead appears on the screen.
I dont think there is an LED in for it, like there is for the other two.
