Hi folks! First post, would have preferred it to be a little more happier, but never mind!

I've got a LC TDI and about 1 year ago I had a Clifford C650 with Intellistart fitted to it. All is fine with it, until I decide to go on holiday. I've been away at least three times during the past year for two weeks at a time and on all occassions, I've come back to a dead car. All electrics are dead; the battery has been drained.

I've had the guys who installed the alarm (Prestige in Rickmansworth, Herts) look at it twice, and they say there is nothing wrong with the wiring on the alarm. One of the suggestions made by a guy there was to disconnect the battery when I leave the car. Far from ideal if you ask me :p . I asked a friendly Seat garage in Watford, and they said they couldn't find a problem with it. I'm really at a bit of a loss for things to do.

One thing I have noticed is the electrics seem to work when the ignition is off and key removed. Things like the windows and radio. I'm positive the windows never worked without the ignition on. Could there be some sort of problem with the wiring here? To fit the Intellistart, they had to remove the steering wheel to get some wiring in - is that normal? Perhaps something was wired incorrectly, I don't know  .

I've almost reached my tethers end, wanting riddance of this alarm.

I'd appreciate any advice, preferably helpful! Thanks!

In a leon they have to remove the stearing wheel to get at the ignition barrel, so they can glue the standard transponder chip from one of your keys to the transponder areil to disable the standard immobiliser.

The Clifford definately shouldn't run the battery flat in 2 weeks. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything that could cause it, there is a feed from the intellistart that can be used to power the car for 10 minutes after the engine is turned off, but it shouldn't keep the radio/lights etc powered up after that 10 minutes if they've wired that up.

The TDI battery is huge so it must be some power drain to flatten it

Ah, I didn't know about the 10 minute thing. I'll check that out during my lunch break.

I'm not really aware of any problems with battery drainage on the Leon TDI (I've been lurking a bit!), so perhaps it may be worth my while asking the guys to disconnect my alarm and take it back to Seat for a second look. The first time round they didn't charge me, which was nice :)

I think the guys name was Gavin. I haven't done anything about the car since posting, but I was going to book it back into Prestige so they could disconnect the alarm and get the garage to have another look at it.

oki doki , gavin does not work there any more lol he gone as well , If they give you any grief or hassel then sure we can help you . its prob more than likly to be the alarm . most prob one of the lives is gettin back feed from some where , some X5s have the same problem , the car sees the alarm as a light or some thing that has been left on the car , and the car is tryin to shut it of by doin the normal lock procedures where it kills power to all internal components , so there prob a wire that is on the wrong wire , sort of thing

We had a Clifford G5 solaris on both our old saxos, you can set the car to start itself if the battery voltage drops... which if you leave it for 2-3 weeks with a bright flashing LED is likely... you have to do something on the remote to set the car to "look after" itself...

Works a treat, can also tell it to start itself if it senses the temperatures are below a set level...

I would check on the Clifford website to see...

Hope this may help a bit
