in the rain today, doing about 90mph, i had the wipers on, and when the wiper went to full reach,(vertical) there was a banging noise/ clicking noise coming from them.

i think it was the wiper knocking up against the pillar/ end of glass??

but surely this shouldnt be happening

anyone else had this problem??

the wiper arm is bolted onto the spindle wich has a taperd spline fitting so the arm can be removed by removing the 13mm nut then pulling the arm away from the screen (it should come right off) you can then refit the arm in a slightly different position so that it wont bang the a pillar

hope that helps ;)

Are you using a set of Halford's own make wipers? If so then that could be the problem.

The set of wipers I bought last year were Halfords own make and they used to do it when they reached top. It was how my mate knew i was at the 85- 90 mark on the motorway. You could see the blade was catching edge of glass. I think it was something to with the spoiler on the blade working too well.

I have just recently changed the blades again on mine and now gone for some Bosch ones and these don't do it. So my mate has had to back to looking across at the speedo now. lol

Yep - mine does it. Quite a loud bang when the wiper reaches the vertical, usually in high winds. And yep - they're Halfords own brand with a spoiler.

I guess next time I won't buy Halfords ones.
