Clear coat restoration

Hi all,
I keep my boy sheeted most of the time, as my bonnet was falling victim to clear coat erosion & some on my roof.
I gave him a good clean yesterday & despite this prevention, as well as parking under a tree, the roof has deteriorated badly. For the life of me, I can't figure out why it's gotten worse.
I can't afford a respray, but wondering if I should take the plunge & sand it back for a clear coat respray? Any one got any experience, advice on this?
I won't touch the bonnet, because I could easily fk it up, but the roof I figure couldn't look much worse.
Appreciate any words of wisdom 👍

mines red and when i got it the laquar was going like a white, like de laminating, i used G3 products to bring it back up not happened since if its peeling off its like said a body shop, its probably the sap from the tree is why its getting worse and doing the roof is the worst as tobe done right most of the top of the car will need spraying to blend it in, you could look into them raps cars have just for the roof.. or a flag like the Dukes of hazard lol

Cheers for that, sound advice & will look at those products first 👍
It's not peeling, but like yours it's going white & showing up badly on the black.
I spoke to a mellow yellow owner couple of months ago & his was peeling in random places but mines just oxidising.
I think the black, red & yellow's are the worst affected at this age.
Thanks again mate 🤟

Nice one mate, I'll give that a good go 😁
I have come across Maguires on YouTube a few times, but never actually tried it out.
I will get that ordered & do some before & after pics when I can get on with it. Mot next week 😭

Yeah the maguire compound is a good cutting polish hopefully it will do the job if the discoloration isn't that too bad on the roof, bilt hamber do some really good gear as well. But a good polish will hopefully do the job as you ain't got lacquer peel thank good.
Also good luck on mot bud.

Thanks mate. I'm looking forward to giving it a bash; white is definitely not the new black 😎

ive got this https://bilthamber.com/product/auto-balm/ its great finish and for light scratches i bet on darker cars you'll see a good finish but it doesn't last also got the clay bar as you can just use water with it

Maguires are good on some products, last wax i got years ago was a trade type not retail gear, it was yellow and smelled of bananas lol but it didn't last long on beading, just use it inside the doors now and again , love the smell of it though lol

be better if you had a cheap buffer it will be allot easier if not one arm will look like popeye lol
lol 😆, yeah I do need some more grunt on the finish & as you say working it yourself can be a slog. The roof however is going to be a bit of a bitch to work over, need a sturdy step ladder for that one 🤞
