Hello!

My PD150 has done 158k and I want to get the insides cleaned as best possible. I think I may have a problem somewhere because when I boost I'm getting a slight judder.

I've heard of things you can mix into the fuel. I was going to get a garage to clean the turbo vanes, EGR etc but if there's a quicker, cheaper way I'm open to ideas!

Thanks
Steve

i cleaned my non PD engines turbo with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, unbolt the turbo to egr pipe and spray the cleaner into the exhaust side of the turbo. takes about 1/2 hour to strip and about 1 to clean, it made a noticable difference on my car.

Thanks, I'll have a look into that. I was hoping to get something I could mix with the fuel but I may just take it to a friends garage get them to do it this way!

I'm not sure if I could do this on my own without some sort of guidance! :)

theres nothing you can mix with fuel to do this. it needs to be done properly and stripped down and cleaned up really.

it took about 3 hours to do everything but that's downpipe off, egr off, etc like i said it's not a quick thing but did work well noticed a real difference. but that was on an Ibiza i would imagine you'll have more room aroud the turbo on a Leon ?

That is the one you need, but please google or search here. mr muscle is very strong cleaner and it eats aluminum, whoever suggested this should give you a warning because you can damage your turbo and your engine big time !!!

I was thinking about that but when you think about it. £300 px to reman unit or clean it for lets say £100, you get like new unit and you know you will not get problems again if you look after it properly.

Remove the egr and intake mani to clean, then use Mr Muscle, don't want that stuff going through the engine.
Just spray it in and let it work then rinse thoroughly.

As for the turbo just get the vnt lever moving nicely and give the car a good blast, it'll soon burn off any crud if you keep using the revs properly. I regularly get mine upto at least 4500rpm once in a while, probably about once a fortnight at least. It can be good to remove and sometimes necessary but a lot of the time the above works just fine.

As for the egr you can just pull the vac pipe off the top and plug it, that'll disable it but depending on the age of car you might get a light on the dash. Only way to remove it is to have it tuned out by a tuner.
