Anyone got any handy tips for fitting the chrome air vent surrounds for the centre two outlets only.

Insructions require tool, U-30800 (what ever that is) but managed to do the outside ones by using brute force as they were easy to get purchase on, any ideas how I can get the other two out without leaving screw driver marks every place AND without U-30800.

prise the ring out of the middle vents using a very small screwdriver this will leave little marks on the old surround and no on the vent once these are out push the vent back into the dash and turn it around, this will allow you to pull it out as there are flapps that hold it in. once it is turned around you can pull it out, then put new surround on and push into the dash!

Sorted now - Used the notch at 12 top inside the ring to lever the ring off then coat hanger to pull the entire centre bit out - installed the new ring then replaced into the dash - sorted !!

Some slight gaps round the outside - its this normal - very tiny gaps though might be me being anal about it.

yeah they look class - yeah they clipped in alright - had a problem with the drivers side one as the clips broke on one side of the surround - but the broken side was put next to the dash away from the door and it held firm.

I did have a very small bit of rubber fall out from the ball in the centre vent and the vent makes a slight sound when moved at pace but hey it works no problem - getting the ball out did leave a very very very small make on the dash exit but its hardly visable. Can you get a dash pen to cover it up ?

Just need to fit a gear stick and gater now then im sorted - mind you I think I have been given the wrong one (arosa)

lol nothing is ever simple i broke the drivers side clip as well when i did my set and a bit of clue sorted it out! they do look mint so any little mark will be over looked by the vents anyway!

I'm thinking if I get the vent surrounds again, I'll get the dealer to fit them. Cannot be arsed with all that hassle again. It's worth it in the end though, as it does look good. Might go for the aluminium gear surround this time.
