Chris, Fancy giving me a handy when I fit my pads (first time and all)? Just ordered them today from Bill. I can pop over to your if you like?

I would mate if I knew what I was doing - I eventually got a garage to do mines for me as I couldn't be bothered doing it myself.

When it comes to servicing (Oil, fuel, pollen and air filters then oil change) I do all that myself - not picked up the courage to do my brakes yet.

If you want a garage to do it on the cheap, I have the number of one in Irvine who fitted my supplied parts for me for £40 ... that was discs and pads. :)

Poor show Chris:p, Seriously though, Brakes have always been a bit of a speciality of mine so if anyone needs help or advice on tehm, give me a shout. Never had to change discs/pads on either of my MK4's but I had the calipers (Front and rear) off my Petrol one to paint them. The rears need the wind back tool and they also have the handbrake connected to them but still a simple single piston sliding caliper!

Ive only got the front pads to change as they are starting to squeel, not to bothered by the back as they've got another 80% wear in them. Hopefully the front disks will be okay though. I will keep that number in mind Chris. I know of a good garage in Greenock that will do a good job cheap for me. When I had my punto I was never out of there! ;). Id like to give this a blast myself but Id need someone that knows what they are doing! - Brian?? lol :D

Nice one... I'll bear that in mind Brian.

Just say the word mate and I'll give you a hand, after all, I'm only round the corner really! Are the pads low and squeling or just making the noise? Could just need a bit of copper slip on the back of the pads!

You might have a bit of drama with the front Cupra ones mate. At least 3 of us have found that the caliper pins are stuck. 2 of us have had to cut them out and replace them! If I was doing mine again, I would have let a garage take care of it!

Thanks Brian - They are squeeling so I think they're a little on the low side. Dont want to mess about with something as important as brakes! I would rather replace the brakes because they could save my life one day! ;)
