Centre vent louvres broken

So I (used to) have a phone holder, which clips on to the centre vents and locks in place. It allowed me to use my phone's magsafe charger at a nice angle.

I managed to knock my phone today whilst raising my hand to say thank you to another driver, but in turn it made some of the vent louvres pop out (as well as the hazard light button).

I've spent ages trying to get it all assembled again, to which it is.. but the part that I'm holding in my hand in the attached image is very fiddly to assemble, thus not allowing the vents to be angled all at once. The part is basically what links all the vent louvres together.

Does anyone have any advice to reassemble the louvres along with this linker part?
