Hopefully someone can help me, I have a standard factory 6CD changer in my cupra and when I press the button on the head unit is just says changer but doesnt actually work. I have checked it is plugged in fully at both ends and still no luck. I didnt know if there was a way to check if the actual changer is knacked before I try and get anotherone. I know you can change it for a mp3 connection but I still want it working.

I think so :(

If the display said MAGAZINE, I'd suggest it was the cartridge mechanism or laser, but sounds like yours is electrically dead or the headunit just can't see it.

I assume you can still eject the cartridge ok ?

Mine did this for a while. I couldn't get my CD changer or my iPod connection to work. Both would just say CHANGER on the headunit. Just fixed itself after a while.

The cartridge wont eject either, its been like this for a while and it is really starting to p**s me off. I might see if my dads volt tester shows any power going too it, just wunded if anyone has had this problem and if it was just a matter of swapping the changer. Cheers for the replys.

I had a look today at the wiring, it wasnt trapped anywhere and there is power getting to the changer. I have hopefully manage to source a new changer and i will try that. I will let you know if that sorts the problem if I manage to get the new changer.
