No I think it was somebody else other than you. They actually had it all working, until it got stolen.

I've got a carputer

Just finished installing mine this weekend, apart from some tweaks.
I went for a mini-itx board setup and an in-dash monitor. I went for mini-itx so I could fit the computer in the glove box :)

Here's a pic I took of the screen last night:

Yeh the honda skin was the default it installed...
There's only one seat skin and it looks crap, so might have a go as skinning it myself :)

I'll get a full spec list together when i'm not at work ;)

screen cost the most, the rest was fairly cheap.

Heya im T-Sparks brother i also installed a car PC in my Seat Ibiza FR. Its similar to the guys set up with the motorised touch screen. Remove the tray, Drop the head unit down. I've got a mini ITX box mounted in the boot with an M10000 Automotive PSU so it switches on and off with the ignition (well will do when i wire that up) As T Spark said, yes Vag Com is running off it and i've got a permanent cable connected so i can do graphs and stuff as im driving and turn custom code on and off to my leisure.

I also have a 54mb wifi card and an external aerial mounted on the roof for picking up Internet access here and there. Using netstumbler it doesnt take long to find an open connection to use :)

Main aspect tho is the 250gb hard drive installed with over 100gbs of mp3 albums and i got about 100 movies and other media/shows, owt i could get really to load up.

My front end is media cruiser it works well. I need a new touch panel so i got a nice diddy wireless keyboard to keep it going at the moment.

I stuck Project64 on it for playing Nintendo 64 games.

I got a GPS on it which just shows up the speed im going and my altitude, tho thats a bit flakey im hoping to get involved with www.wheresmygps.net for some online tracking and get a voda 3g card in there when i win the lottery :)

I have a sepearte PDA with TomTom on it for GPS navigation. Its nice to have all the scrolling colours and music videos on one screen and GPS on another :)

I also had a Freecom TV card in there for picking up digital tv, tho the signal quality in my area wasnt so great but worked well in manchester :) I had an external aeral for that too. So with three areals on the back it looked a bit overkill :)

So yeah thats my car PC project. I can post pics if you like but its very similar to the other guy who posted his pic. They're great. passes so much time whilst stuck in traffic jams :)

So yup thats me :)

I've build myself a stereo size travla C134 case with mini ITX (top spec SP1300) car pc, with a car monitoring power supply (M2-ATX - 160W) etc about 3-4 months ago for my old car and just after sold my car and bought a new leon TDi. It's never been used.

I suppose I should sell it at some point so if anyone is interested let me know :)

Typical lol. I've had it sitting around since I got it, it I put it all together got it running etc then sold the car days later. Been meaning to sell it since, I saw this thread and thought oh yea I meant to sell that.

It's got a nice slot loading dvd drive to so it feels like a car stereo, just stick the disk in and it gets sucked in and 512 megs of ram. I got my bits from http://www.linitx.co.uk/, I found them pretty good. What about you?

oh well, maybe someone else will buy 'em now :)

Yeah I got a few bits from that website too. Went elsewhere for the motherboard but only because they were out of stock at the time.

I'm pleased with my setup, only had it running a day though so not got much on there apart from a few test mp3s :D

That looks cool mate.

What frontend are you using, is it Road Runner? Also what GPS software do you have and was it easy to integrate - I'm going to get that setup next I think.

I'll get some pics of the glove box setup as soon as I get chance :)
I did have to remove the rear of the glove box by the way!!

Yeah, 1700 is about right...

Nah, mine cost me about 500, with the screen being the most expensive part as it's the in-dash version and I had to import it from USA. If you go for the normal screen, which is about 100 quid cheaper, then you have to fabricate the dash and usually get rid of your head unit (or relocate it at least) - I didn't want to do either.

You can just run a "normal" pc from your boot. They don't need to be too powerful unless you’re thinking of playing games etc. All you need for that is a car compatible power supply (about £50) or an inverter, and the screen of course.

Mine is for sale assembled and working but never been used, I've posted up the details in the Accessories For Sale section, guess it takes a while to appear there. It does not include a screen, it's a stereo sized full pc with an in car power supply. 1 Travla C134 mini-ITX EPIA M/PD/SP case - Black (C134BLACK)

1 Panasonic CW-8124-B with Black Bezel - Slot Loading DVD/CDRW
1 Slim CD IDE Adapter (PA-CD1)

i also decided one screen wasnt enough so with a VGA booster spliter and a vga to composite lead u can add the following for extra wooo factors :D
