Carista obd2 adaptor and the app on iOS or android , gives full diagnoses of and seat/Audi/golf and also allows access to full convenience and additional options , I have just bought and set mine up ,

Can turn off/on cornering lights and all settings normally done through vcds

It's brilliant and allows customisation of every setting including beeps when lock and unlock and also turning off the dreaded double unlock to unlock all doors not just driver doors

This is not an advert lol , I just got one and love it , and though I would share , before anyone else pays to have someone log in with VCDS etc

Happy customising !

What I don't like about Carista is their licensing model. To get any useful features you have to pay a $40 annual subscription fee which needs to be renewed every year so after a few years the money starts to add up. However, if you're a poncy iPhone user then unfortunately you don't really have many other options if you want a mobile device app solution.

For Android users, I think OBDeleven wins hands down over Carista and it has a much more user-friendly and affordable licensing model.

I am on the iPhone lol , so it was best option for me to maintain the Bluetooth rather than wifi (which has a much better stable connection)

I use OBD eleven my self but the pro version adds up as well but is it a one time payment?

With OBDeleven the software is free but you pay a one-off fee for an OBDeleven specific dongle, either 36 Euros for the standard version or 55 Euros for the pro version. You can't just buy and use a cheap generic OBD bluetooth dongle.

All diagnostic operations in OBDeleven are free, and if you are happy to do manual coding and adaptations then you can do all that for free as well. However, if you choose to make use of the "apps" within OBDeleven then you need to buy in-app credits in order to use those. All the apps actually do is apply coding / adaptation in a quick one-touch operation. So, if you are prepared to spend some time researching and learning how to perform the codings / adaptations manually then you can do the same as the apps do but at no extra cost. If you can't be bothered doing that then you have to accept paying an extra premium to use the apps instead. At least OBDeleven gives you that choice. Carista doesn't give you any choice so you end up having to pay a $40 subscription fee per year regardless if you want to continue using tbe app.

Thanks! I did not know that and I don't think I have or will have the time to learn that anytime soon.

Nice rides you have!

I've been using Carista for a while and luckily got the full licence just before the licencing change so have the full product for life.

I've used it for a few mods on my Leon, also used the carista adaptor with torque pro and vag dpf apps both of which are really useful too for monitoring various bits and bobs on your motor.

Yes, anyone that got in before the licensing change can count themselves lucky. I think the app was only about £15 IIRC before they changed the licensing to $40 per year so those people (which includes you) are laughing :D

I think Carista shot themselves in the foot with the price hike and I think they have probably lost a lot of customers to OBDeleven because of it. If the OBDeleven developers ever release a version of their app for iOS, then I think the Carista developers might find themselves in a bit of trouble.

Personally , I am happy with carista , I am on iPhone and it works flawlessly , and I have diagnosed and changed settings etc for all sorts of German cars , silly things like activating auto folding mirrors when locking the car etc , it's worth the money I paid , which was £30 a year , but 1 trip to seat a year for diagnosis and I have saved £18 ,
But I think whatever the cheapest option of OBD2 management , get it bought and use it to potential , they are great and give complete control over your car

I use my cellphone to talk to people. If I want to use The Internet (tm), I go onto my laptop.

What's the best for curmudgeonly old buggers like me? (want to read codes and set software switches. Specifically, right now, turn off anti-hijack locking and find out why my can-bus electric mirrors have stopped working alltogether)
