hiya all,

i have an onvi yellow cupra R (03 plate).

the car is in near perfect condition apart from one thing. the paint on the plastic parts of the bodywork are a deeper yellow than the rest of the car (for example the petrol cap, the spoiler).

now i know this happens, i was wondering what can i do about it?

ive never been in this situation before so im not sure what to do or what the correct terminology is.

any help would be massively appreciated!!

thanks very much in advance :)

In truth, not alot :(.

You can improve it by taking care of the paint and detailing it yourself. I personally go with a wash, clay, wash, paint cleanse, polish, glaze, sealant & wax. That's a good 7hrs worth of work if you do it properly. The results are fantastic mind you, you can still see that the petrol cap is slightly darker but not unless you're looking for it. Insects have trouble sticking to the car after that routine and the paint is good for about 3month before you should do it again. In between (2wkly), it gets 2 new coats of carnauba wax which is a bit OTT maybe but I want to make sure it's properly protected. Other than this the only other solutions would be to have the rear quarter & spoiler blended into the surrounding panels or a full respray.

Lol no worries. There are a few arguments about what products are best but i'll tell you what worked well for me :).

Here is a recent thread of mine, about 2 1/2 months after it's last major clean and still looking good after a simple wet wash & dry.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=226919&highlight=disused

clay - Meguiars clay kit (halfords £20ish) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_253057_langId_-1_categoryId_165527

paint cleanse - Meguiars paint cleaner (halfords £8ish) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_199031_langId_-1_categoryId_165527

polish - Meguiars polish (halfords £8ish) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_199087_langId_-1_categoryId_165527

glaze - Chemical Guys easy creme glaze (Chemical Guys UK £14) http://www.chemicalguysuk.com/product_p/ezgl.htm

sealant - Chemical Guys jetseal 109 (Clean Your Car £23) http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/chemical-guys-jet-seal-109/prod_484.html

wax - Meguiars carnauba wax is good for a quick fix, its cheap (Halford £8ish again) but it's not too pure so doesn't last that long or what is really rather good is Dodo Juice Orange crush which works well with firely coloured cars http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/sh...ldz1jYXRlZ29yeSZjYXRlZ29yeV9pZD0yJnNvcnRieT0=

On top of this I would recommend eith that tech wax you have or Meguiars NXT Speed Detailer to enhance the'wet look' further.

No worries about the help, that's what this place is for :)

By the way, take time to do the claying properly, really work it in. I am sure you'll be very surprised at the dirt it brings out. Once you've got rid of it, take a stand back and you'll notice the paint already looks deeper.

Not a problem, I think you'll be please with the results although of course not as good as a respray. If nothing else, you're protecting the paint from any further damage :)

By the way, Halfords have a 3 for 2 offer on car cleaning products at the mo so you can save some £££.
