Car fails to start every 4th or 5th time

To add to my list of problems, got the head gasket fixed in April, they had to trim the valves as they were not sealing properly. Just had tensioners and new belt put on but it seems to be using too much oil. Theres no leak or anything so dont get it!

thanks for the updates and suggestions with the key, i did try this but then the car did not start. The good news is that I have pinpointed what the issue is. My friend used an OBD scantool and the code provided was P0121: Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem.

We tried to test the voltage readings of the sensor but the equipment he had was not specific enough for the seat ibiza. Can anyone suggest what the best way to test it myself? I work very close to a Skoda garage and was thinking of asking them to test it for me? do people think this is the easiest thing to do?

just to let everyone know i took my car to Skoda in Watford and they did a vagcom and found that problem was the temp sensor had gone. Thats the fourth sensor that has gone within 3 years, at least the problem has been resolved! thanks for all your suggestions and help.
