I think using one of these is a bit like keeping the plastic covers on your furniture...
Sure, it protects what's underneath, but what's the point of protecting it if you don't get to enjoy or appreciate it?

I must admit they do look a bit poo, but I have actually ordered one, only because I'm driving to the ring at the end of May, its not going on until I leave and it's coming off as soon as I come back. It's just really for the 1000 odd mile journey i'll be doing.
I personally wouldn't spend the money on one just for going to work and back and pottering around town. It is annoying when you get stone chips but it's a part of life you just have to put up with.

If you're worried about stone chips, just leave extra distance between you and the cars in front.
Think about it, if your driving around were you live, your not going to drive at stupid speeds, therefore if a stone hits your bonnet its not going to do much at all. On D'restricted roads (Germany) where your more likely to drive faster, the same size stone will do a lot more damage.
Look I totally agreed they do look crappy and spoil the look of the car but I like my car to look the best it can, I look after it, and if I can protect it in anyway then I will.
P.s When I come back to England it will come off the car!!!!!!!

Driving 1000 odd miles in Germany will be no different than driving 1000 odd miles here! It's just your journey will be over a shorter time but not forced to be more likely to get stone chips. Wilth the state of the roads in England you'd be better having it on here.
Also there are very few de-restricted sections of the Autobahn left now.
