The only other time i have seen damage like that was when part of a selector fork dropped off and in to the gears of a corsa gearbox.

He was having the same sort of selection problems and it broke the selector fork by trying to force it in to gear.

Do you know what caused it? Was it DEAN0's suggestion above? Pretty p155ed off with myself if I've caused it.

Same as Deano's mate. If you forced it, sorry to say it doesn't help. I was gutted as well mate because I wasn't aware either.

Did you get it repaired? What option did you go for, New, 2nd hand or recon? Did it take anything else with it? clutch, dual mass flywheel etc.

I went for new as couldn't find a 2nd or a recon unfortunately. just the clutch, well i say just the clutch, still not nice!

Have gone the new gearbox route as at least I get 2 years Seat warranty with it and is only a little more than a recon box would work out. The bad news is I need a new clutch, dual mass flywheel and some other thing that I can't even pronounce or spell! Looking like costing well into 4 figures :-o

Other good news..... my MOT is due and front tyres are on the limit! :censored:
