Can't remap ECU due to encryption

Hi all I have just got a 2011 Seat Leon Cupra 240 KO4 and want to remap it. I've spoken to Superchips Manchester and they are saying that the ecu is encrypted and that the ecu will have to be taken apart which I don't like the sound of.

I would even consider Revo software if ECU does not have to taken apart. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this goes for all maps. Even bluefin. If you are getting REVO maybe go to your seat dealer to do it (some do) then you can relax

Where in manchester mate? welcome to the party.

Newer ecu's are made not to be remapped by the obd Port, I don't know why exactly but I personally think maybe car manufacturers are trying to stop it for a possible reliability increase with some maps and they would prefer that cars needed fixing more often.
Just a theory.
The new way though is taking the Ecu out and doing on the bench, nothing a big mapping company can't handle.

all post 2010 cars have to have the ecu removed however a reputable mapper will refit it with new snap off bolts and it will look like no one ever touched it ;)

I would have thought more like they are worried about getting warranty claims from people who have put some dodgy software on and screwed things up! Remember the claim comes through the dealership and they want the money so it's in their interest really not to check whether the ECU has been played with! :) Then the dealer will charge back the warranty costs against the manufacturer.

i know that SEAT have uprgaded their diagnostic equipment gone are the 5052 and 5051b diagnostic machines.
Now they could have been replaced to come into line with the newer ecu's and also the extra features that cars now have or they could also include interegation of changes to software.
Just my thoughts , not trying to scare monger.

Guy's I think you're all misinformed, we've not seen any Leon Cupra that has a locked ECU.
True 'some' ECUs from 2010 (Sept 2009 actually) are locked, but not all of them.

A lot of 'tuners' know that their equipment could leave an ECU inoperable if it was locked and they attempted to flash it through the OBD port. This however isn't the case with Revo software as we use full size files and have complete stock files for each ECU we cater for...

...get into your local Revo dealer and Go Play!

I have spoken to Mike at Votex in Congleton today and have decided to go with Revo software. They say that they have done a newer car than mine through the OBD port :)
