try lifting the havdle and giving a firm whack with the palm of your hand just to the side of thee handle. somtimes works.

i have had/got the same trouble with my mk4 ibiza, seems water from the rear wiper drips on on the locking module and mechanism.

good luck - if you have no joy you'll have to open it from the inside. Which is a pain. You need to remove boot trim etc.

Very common problem - i actually got my bootlock replaced by the garage TWICE! (And looked at a further 3 times)

thanks mate :) - if its still in warranty see if the dealer can do anything for you - if not you'll have to try the "thump" method above (worked for me a couple of times) but otherwise it'll be a real pain to sort :(

It's definately down to the bad weather - water/ice/fog etc - messed up my boot lock 2 years running.

check your fuses again mate... if you say your mirrors don't fold chances are you've got a dead fuse. Manual will show you which fuses are for which circuits.

I have no idea as to cost to get repaired at dealer, but the last two times i've needed this changing, it has taken a long time. The boot lock needs to come from SPAIN, and is specific for your car - the lock needs to be coded to your chassis number i think.....

i have a similair problem with mine, it would not lock the boot with the remote or key so i took the trim off and moved the locking bar which worked for a few days but noticed today it was not locking again so ive taken the lock out and thats ok looks li the motor on the boot door has packed up so now i have to climb in the boot and open it from inside.

have you taken the boot trim out yet?

that's the only way I can think of... it'll be invasive though, with a knife

Smart22186 - you'll need to remove 2 screws from each grab handle, and then, IIRC, its just a case of a short/sharp tug (oohhh er missus) of the trim, as its held on with those damn clips that you'll spend the next 20mins trying to find...... lol

I don't THINK there are any more screws.....

if boot wont open then it will be tricky as im sure some of the clips are where you cant get to, so as mork said maybe a knife job!!

But dont quote me!!

just looked at mine when you try to get it off youll have to probably break the plastic as its a one piece that the lock goes through unless you can do it without needing to snap the plastic!
