So heres my problem bought a VAG COM scanner from ebay. Plugged it into diagnostic port via instructions provided. Powers up and all is well then when ever I scan for codes it say connection error. Anyone any ideas? Surely a remap wouldnt effect connection to ECU

When you pluged it into the car and opened the software did you go to options section and test the connection??

Your remap wont effect the software or it shouldn't do.

Its just a cheap VAG COM code reader from ebay not the laptop version mate. Cant be power to diagnostic socket because the code reader powers up when i plug it in.

But then when you go into a section like engine or abs it scans for codes then comes up that its not connected. Am stuck

Have you tried plugging It into another car to see if you get any joy. If not you may have bought a faulty code reader.
