black is definitely more high maintenance than red. the slighest bit of dirt and dust shows up on a black car more easily than any other colour. It is also easier to make a red or even blue car look more aggressive. If you respray your front bumper to look like a cupra( the bits under number plate and bottom lip) they will be a lot more noticable on black and red cars. If the blue is metallic, i'd go for the speed blue as it does look stunning and less likely to fade later in the cars life.

I'll be the first to admit it's an absolute pig to keep clean.

It's just had a week in the cotswolds and the layer of grime on it is unbelievable. However, there is nothing like the satisfaction of giving her a bloody good mop and wipe to really bring out the shine in her, and the massive grin on my face. :)

Oh, and nothing matches the road presence of watching that appear in your rear view mirror like a big bad vader :)

Thanks for the photos and comments, would agree that black doesnt stand out enough :)

Ashley

Red all the way! But then I'm biased.. I think the black ones don't stand out enough and there isn't enough differentiation between the grills and bumper and the car paintwork.

Would agree that when both colours are clean they do look great!
So due to the black bring up every little blemish and dust you voting for red? lol
Thanks for that i need luck lol right now im pointing more to red! :)

Ashley

I've had a red and a black Altea in the past few years and I have to say - for what it's worth - they both look great with a bit of spit n polish - just look at the photos above.

However - being the type of person who likes to spend a few hours at the weekend cleaning the car - the black one really broke my heart. Looks great for a while and needs a lot of effort right down to buffing out the water marks, If it wasn't the rain and you're lucky to get a bit of sunshine it seems to show up every little blemish and also seems to be a magnet for dust.

Good luck in making your decision anyway :)

Thanks for your comment Jace

Black, of course

Thanks for the comment and photo :)

Thanks for that comment, never saw a blue one only on here when another member posted a photo of his cupra up. And must say it does look nice :D Not sure if they could locate that colour.
White nice but i'd only want a white car for 6months to a year max and i can always get the car vinyl wrapped if i get bored of the colour only arund £700 for any colour :D

I saw a blue one for the first time the other day, and yes it has to be blue.

Or white.

Thanks for the photo bigfoot white does look good.

Thanks for the comment whitey, your voting for black lol. The blue does look good dont it!

Straight choice between the 2 - I'm assuming you only have the choice of black or red - I would go for red every time - just look at the images posted by Street - does it for me.

If you had other colours to choose from? White is hard to beat at the moment, looks fantastic but so does that Speed Blue.

I was buying with other factors in mind - low mileage, 18"ers, FF blue tooth and good trade in price swung it for me - oh and actual price of the car - even the dealer said no one was that interested in Brisa Blue

Or both?

Best of both worlds, black magic FR with matt black rims with red lip.

Correct mate only choice would be Red or Black at the moment. At the moment its still red but the photo jdearden posted up now thats a nice black FR!!
If i had a choice with other colours would be that speed blue! All day and every day!

The reason im going for the FR is the cash back they offered on my 1.6 a3 £8,000 or i can just part ex it. And the FR just under £12k but going to see if i can get it down to £11k be nice but £10,500 would be even better! Has 18's as standard. Lol take it you got quite a good deal.

The only thing that putting me off the car is the miles! 40,000 in two years! Spoke to the guy at the dealers said they bought these two FR and 4 stylance's off my local seat two weeks ago. And the FR were the company cars or some thing.
People said its not a lot and its diesel but with me when my cars get around 50k i want them gone and a car with lower miles. But i'll only be keeping this car for 2years!
Think i should go for it? Or walk away? Every thing esle about the car fine.
Seats no marks or wear
Alloys not a mark on them
Paint work great giev it 9/10
Bumpers no dents or paints coming off
No smoke coming out of exhaust when started up or when i put my foot down.

Is there any common problems...I should be aware of? And is there any thing i should keep a eye out for on tuesday when i go to get the car?

Thanks for the help and advise :)

What sort of mileage has the black FR done? 40,000 seems alot and well over the average. I brought my FR 8 months ago on a 07 plate for less than 10k and it had only done 11,000 miles. What age is the car?

You should be able to get a better deal than that looking at the miles the car has done.

You'll never be able to pick up a blue one then :(

Afaik they were only bought in sometime in 2008 and they are very very rare. So I'm sure you'd only be able to get one with a new order.

I've never seen another blue Cupra or FR. Don't think I've seen another blue Cupra on here even. Although in the colour poll a few others have said they have blues. I might have the only blue Cupra with black wheels in the country :D

Out of the red and black I'd go for red. I don't think they photo that well (can look a bit off colour, probably depends on the camera ;)) but in person they look really good.

See.. You know red really is the way forward! Why are you complaining about a car thats done 40k?! Thats nothing! My previous car (Focus TDCi) I took to well over 90k and the car before that (Megane DCI) well over 120k with absolutely no problems.

Ashley - It's clear that the Leon looks good no matter what colour and the bottom line is - it's down to personal taste.

Same with the mileage mate - depends how happy you are with the deal, how long you intend to keep it and how many miles might be on it when you go to sell. But as someone else mentioned earlier there are plenty of them out there if you're prepared to look around and wait awhile.

I travelled a bit for mine even though it seems most people would run a mile from Brisa Blue but when I bought at the start of the year I was looking at a mint 08 car with 18s and FFBT that had just touched 2k on the clock - at just over £12.5k I've no regrets.

A great car no matter what the colour.

Still go for the red though

By the way, with regard to colour, some are worth less than others when it comes to selling, and yellow is the biggest love it or hate it colour.

Would say the leons do look nice, there not many FR by me and all the ones i've seen are silver or black, seen one white cupra. I intend to keep the car for 2years till i'm 21 as i#ll upgrade back to audi for a S3 when my insurance is lower. Re-sale will not bother me as much as could give the car to my sister as she be older.
Naa i'm not really willing to wait lol! If i wait around i might aswell wait for a A3 s-line, which what i was looking for but where stupid prices or not s-line.

Seeing you said you got one just over £12.5 i'm gonna see if i can get the price down to £10k-£11k! :) I think that be a good price.

Haha think it will be red still not seen a red FR down by me, there a yellow one not far from me though.

I know but me i get funny with miles when they are high. And after a few months i'll be upgrading the turbo [B)] So dont think that be putting problems on the engine or car? And me i drive alot my 1.6 a3 had 43,091 last july now its on 58,000 some thing. Yeah i know a few people who had cars with really high miles and no problems. But some boy who works with me bought a 2003 a3 2.0tdi with 110K on the clock had nothing but problems, but i suppose just by looking at the car you can see its been battered! And he paid £10.5K for it. Hmmm how do i put it he special :D
