Been talking to Dave about this. I think there are 2 possibilities really, dodgy lambda that's causing it to overfuel and run like crap etc. Or the map was overfuelling which caused the lambda to go etc

Dave, what am improvement over the BMC :). How does she feel on the road? Obviously a lamda fault is going to hinder things but you're sucking in a bit more air so things might have improved a little. How are your engine temps? A dodgy coolant temp sensor can cause slight over fuelling.

Which VAG COM cable did you get in the end? Are you using 409.1 to do the logs?

on the road, it feels like it pulls ever so slightly better through the rev range, but then again its hard to tell if its the placebo effect or not ;)

The engine temps are fine from what i can see. coolant temp hits 90 then stays dead on the mark.

The vagcom cable i used was the one on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-VAG-COM-409-1-OBD-2-II-CABLE-LEAD-AUDI-VW-VAG-COM_W0QQitemZ370298460375QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item56378218d7) seems to do the trick fine!
