Can anyone help please - electrical specialist

Hi

My car was stolen on 7 Feb and recovered same day. The car was referred to my main Cupra dealer JCT600 Leeds. There was only internal damage as outlined below.

However, the dealer JCT600 also advised that this is so specialised electrical work, that they are unable to do it. You will note damage/theft of fibre optic cables, EVU and 5F module together with the surrounding housing in the glove box.

On referring this issue to my insurers, they passed it to one of their authorised garages, but they too have confirmed that they are unable to undertake the works either.

I am really at a loss to know where to go from here. Anyone know of any specialist auto electrical in the Leeds/Yorkshire area that could help please?

Kind regards

Paul

Sorry to hear about your car theft, but at least it’s been recovered.

As for the interior electrical damage - as repairs are the subject of an insurance claim, then surely it’s for your insurance company to arrange for repairs to be undertaken by a competent repair company; that‘s what you’re paying your insurance premium for. You shouldn’t have to be doing the legwork to find a competent, experienced repairer to do the work.

If you did find a repairer and the work turned out to be of an unsatisfactory standard and you referred it back to your insurance company, how would they react? They’d probably wash their hands of anything to do with rectifying the unsatisfactory work and tell you you’re on your own.

In this instance, I personally think your insurance company should be liaising direct with Cupra - maybe if the repairs are so very specialised that their dealership network don’t have the necessary skills or competence to do the work, then perhaps your car needs to go back to Cupra UK for the repair work to be carried out.

Some dealer surely has a master tech with the ability to sort this, or send a specialist to your local dealer, what would they do if it was a warranty fault?
