on average, how much have any of you 16v owners paid for a cambelt change at a local garage? reason i'm asking is i've just been quoted £230 fitted which seemed a bit steep to me.

Should be between £150 and £200 so its a little over.

i paid £230 mate, full cam belt kit change.

I did mine myself (with a tiny hand from my dad) was eezee. But i spose its a bit different on 16v

yeah as i recall the easiest way is to hoist it out slightly as its tight for space

I was charged £46 labour at my local garage, which is one hours work. This was doing it properly, lining up to TDC and checking all the marks.

I found them by accident, they are excellent also.

That was for an 8v, only looked in Haynes but 16v shouldnt be too much more in terms of time?

I would ask people in your area/work about it, usually you can find good garages that way.

If your doing the cambelt do the aux belt at the same time also

I know mine is a TDi but not long had mine done, £175 including full kit and all belts changed.
