Morning All,

I have my 60K service coming up and reading through the various threads it appears that you normally need a cambelt change for the 180 LC 2001yr ! yet i have phoned two seat garages and they say its not due until £120K and an independent garage after checking my vehicles details via chassis number states that vehicle is due a change at £60K !!! which is correct? views please obviously this makes a big difference in cost

thanks

Steve

I have a 53 plate LC 180. The manual says:

Inspection at every service after 60k and change if required. Change at 120k if not already done. (Not exactly in those words but you get the idea!)

Personally, as I have heard about early snapping, I will be doing mine at 50 - 60k along with water pump with brass impellor, tensioners and the alternator belt while i'm at it!

Aye same with LCR but don't know of anyone risking it, for £300 to change or a possible £1,500 bill if it goes, depends if your a betting man.
I'd bet on it not going on someones elses car but i changed mine at 60,000

I think, it matters a whole lot, how the car has been driven. If its done lots of start stop journeys in the 60K miles then its worth changing. Its that, that puts the most strain on the belt.

My sisters went at 40 odd K once.... A messy afair to say the least... Not a Seat mind! Cost pretty big as the head was mashed due to all 16 valves being bent into a nice 'S' shape!!

Turns out that has just done lots of short journeys.

Well woth it mate, as Junior says.... I'd prefer a £300 bill..
