Can someone please let me know which parts should have been replaced on a 60k cambelt change? I was told the full kit was £150 and have just had the work done, but I asked for the parts they took off and I only have a roller and a belt and four bolts - I dont believe they have changed the tensioner. Can anyone list for me the full £150 parts kit? The parts on the invoice I received only add up to about 75 quid!! i am suspicious because I got a 20% discount under a dealer offer and think they might be skimping.

looks to me they changed the cambelt and tensioner (comes to £72 w/o bolts etc). This is perfecly normal.

However if they did use the full kit this would consist of:
Cambelt
Tensioner
3 relay rollers
some nuts / bolts / washers

The kit does cost £150

I'm not a Happy Bunny!

I telephoned Castlegate and spoke to their service guy, when they quoted me they specifically said they would be using the £150 kit to do the job. This made me decide to get the work done by them and not my local garage. When I took the car in I enquired again to make sure that the job was to be done using the full kit. Normal cost £320 all fitted, but with my 20% off letter sent out last month, only £256 so a bargain and chepaer than my local garage with the same kit. They said that was the case.

It transpires that they did not use the full kit as they had told me they would. This was evident on the parts list on the invoice and when I stated this to the service department they admitted they had not replaced the three rollers and had said they would do so.

The outcome is they will have to have the car back next week to re-do the job and replace the rollers.

In doing this should I also insists on replacement of the stretch bolts too, as I understand these should only be torqued up once.
