I was at a revo garage last friday and they told me i should of got my cambelt and water pump changed last summer when the car was 4 years old. Im pretty sure i read it in the manual as 5 years or 60,000 miles. The car is just coming up to 40,000 miles and is due a 10,000 mile service in 5 weeks time, money is tight as iv just had the remap and iv got the dreaded car tax coming up soon aswell. Is it worth the risk to wait and have it done in june as this is when my MOT is due.

I'm pretty sure the latest recommendation is 4 years or 60k, whichever occurs first.
As to whether its worth the risk of trashing the engine and ending up with a £1k + bill only you can decide.

Not worth taking the risk matey. Peace of mind & all that.

I just got mine done for £260 from MidlandVW, great price but still skint for the rest of the month.
However, I can't put a price on how much better it feels knowing it's done & dusted!

Yeah it is 4 years. Just had mine done for £250 as it was well overdue at 5 and half years. I thought it had been done by previous owner but scrawling through the service history there's no sign of it so better safe than sorry!
My low speed fans have gone too :(
