buzzer + stereo + dimmer faults issues

Hi

Since i bought my 1.6 S Leon AUS engine back in May, it has been a fantastic car but i have a few problems i want to resolve:

1. the buzzer has never worked when you leave the headlights on and open the door. all other beeps work for fuel, engine cold etc etc. the interior lights do switch on when you open the door whilst the engine and headlights are switched on.

2. i fitted an after market stereo (Alpine CDE-103BT) to the car and cannot get it to switch off when i take the key out of the ignition. I have tried swapping the red and yellow cables over so it forms red-yellow yellow-red but the stereo does exactly the same thing and doesn't turn off.

i know this is a problem on the VAG cars but don't know what i need to do to get the
stereo to work properly and switch off when i leave the car.

3. The dimmer switch on the dash does nothing. i have read on a few posts that this is also connected with the stereo to dim the lighting on the original stereo but like i say, it has never worked. i wondered if it would actually be the unit or connected to my problems above? AND...
a) either how to remove the dimmer switch so i can replace it or clean
the contacts
b) what is likely to be causing the problem?

...I was wondering if anyone could help me or has any ideas what to do? VAG com shows no faults.

Also, does anyone happen to have the front fog light units and bumper trim + new headlight switch at all so i can fit the front fogs?

Also, does anyone have the grey cloth armrest available from the car?

anyone know how i can get to the dash components to give a nice spray of contact spray?

The dimmer definately doesn't work with an aftermarket stereo, but when I turn my stereo off fully, not standby, then the dimmer would work again. Try that if possible.

i've tried that by turning the stereo off by putting it on standy and then removing the face plate but the dimmer still doesnt work. is there any way to wire it up again?

1 not sure where the buzzer is.
2 You are going to need to rewire the stereo i think to make a switched live and use that as the feed for the stereo (not the memory leave that alone)
3 the dimming on the stereo is only when you put sidelights/headlights on, does the dash still dim down with the use of the dimmer?

What dash components out?
If you mean the headlight switch, push it it and turn slight then pull it out :)

no dash components are out but the dimmer switch doesn't dim the dash lights or any other lighting in the car.

just spoke to a vw technician and he said for the stereo i need to run a wire from the stereo accessory to the ignition live cable behind the ignition mechanism. surely there an easier way?

i was suggesting if there a way to remove the dimmer switch, i can check replace the unit or clean its contacts to see if that makes any difference.
