But, how does it compare to the Tiguan?

Well, lets have a look!

Edit: Comparison is against the current (as of September 2024) model of the Tiguan.
The Tiguan successor will have better options (matrix pack, etc.) and be more in-line with the current VW platform as per the pic below:

Presumably at least a couple of grand extra, like-for-like, as they seek to push the brand upmarket 😁

Doh! Should have read to the end of the article. But I still maintain that in the UK, the Terramar will end up more expensive. The pricing comparison in the article isn't helpful as it refers to the Tiguan in base spec with the same engine, but that isn't available here - you have to go up to Life trim to get the 150hp engine which the Terramar comes with, and that sets you back £36,720 before any options.

I thought, pricing-wise, it goes Audi > VW > Seat/CUPRA > Škoda?
(Obviously Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini etc above those above)

It always was but I have certainly seen some articles showing VW Prices being cheaper than Cupra (Seat is a disappearing brand so not sure what there price levels are)

Nearly impossible to work out which is most 'expensive' due to spec differences between brands. Skoda is not positioned asa budget brand anymore and owner forums complain about pricing. It's positioned as a 'family' brand so the cars are often bigger than the other VAG products. Cupra is aimed squarely at the sports end - lower and therfore 'smaller'. Like for like Cupra is better specced and while LFL cheaper for now as it strengthens as a brand based on what they did with Skoda, will get more expensive over time. Seat by all accounts will end up as Dacia competitor.

It's certainly not a hierarchy anymore, it's aiming at different market sectors. If there is a hierarchy Cupra is the junior sporty brand to Audi, Skoda the junior comfort brand to VW.
