Hi ive just got some buckets for my car but the universal subframes leave a lot to be desired. i think i know how im going to fabricate some new ones but just thought id see if anyone else has put buckets in and if they have a picture off the subframes which they have used.

Bucket seat details if needed:
Bottom mounted
four bolts go through into the base of the seat (2 each side)

I haven't got pics, but the easiest way to get them in is buy a couple of mk3 golf seats from a breakers (I got mine for £25 each) and cut the bottoms off, then weld them via some metal bars to the bottom of the buckets. Tried sparco and messing around with the universal bits - but they were both shite

well... ill give mine a whirl and see how it goes. im welding them up on friday and ive been taking pictures along the way fopr you guys so if it works, then there will be a guide to do it.
looks pretty sound at the moment so hopefully on to a winner. if not... looks like ill be making my own from scratch. it should be ok with the MOT people... hopefully
im making it out of the old frame and using heavy steel to make it with

bugger it. mine were sitting about 10 inches off the floor so i thought id test them... yes they are miles too high... will have to re think my ideas.
me being a bad lad ive had to refuse to sell the subframes on ebay after the auction ended. i know i shouldnt but its not as if im going to sell them for £25 and then buy me some more for like £100 (slidey ones) :( negative feedback please :(

Wooops, 10" is alot higher than I was expecting them to end up.

Did anybody mention legally binding contract

Which seats did you get, were they the Raceland ones? If they were, I had custom frames made up - I can get you measurements and pics if you need...

Also used the orginal frames and sliders that came with them, so they slide forward and back now...

legally binding... i know but id rather get bad feedback than waste my money soooooooooo...

ive come up with a new plan... lol
im going to use the universal subframes and bolt them to the car floor, and then use these to bolt the sliders to and then hope for the best that it works

how far forwards do you sitin them F2_STU? im just thinking about people getting in and out of the back or is this just not an issue for you? i would ideally like them to be able to get in and out, but as ive made the frames and bolted them to the car passengers cant get in... easily anyway

right... does anyone know where it is ok with the MOT people to mount seat belt mountings. is straight through the floor ok does anyone know or am i looking at utilising the old mountings. I am using the old mountings for 2 points on the harness but there isnt a mount for the side of the seat nearest the centre of the car... any ideas????

IIRC for mot purpose you need to utilise the 2 existing mountings for your harness at the front. the rears will have to be bolted to the rear of the car somewhere like the existing rear seatbelt mounts or the top of the suspension in the boot.
take it your useing 3 point harness's?

your worried about getting folk in the back with your seats? but harnesses are going to get in the way of your rear passengers, you can't just bolt the top of the harness onto the floor behind the seat. it needs to be level
i'll see if I can find the diagram from my old harnesses

yea i was going to use 3 point harnesses and bolt them to the top mounting of the rear seat belts for that part, but i cant use my old mounts for the lap belt part of the harness. see i can use the original mounting for the (taking the passenger seat as an example) left hand side of the seat nearest the door, but the other mounting was incorporated into the seat runners, but as ive had away with them i have no mounting point on that side?

I'm 6'4" so its quite a way back and low down. getting people in/out the back wont be an issue for me as It'll be stripped out with full rollcage.

I built in shackle points on my frame as one of the mounts is built into the seat itself. other than that its your going to have to mount a shackle to the chassis by drilling holes and welding a plate or two.

Regarding the correct method of mounting the shoulder belts is to mount within 10 degrees from the horizontle and no steeper than 45 degrees from the horizontle.

so if i were to get a metal plate fixed to the floor and then have my mounting point bolted through that it would all be ok with the MOT people. its taking me ages to get these bas***ds in and i dont want to have to be taking tthem out for the MOT. is there anyway of making some points like you have on mine and keeping it legal? ill post a pic up of mine later when i can take a photo of it.
thanks guys been a real good help so far :)

thumbs up to you all (if i knew the smiley i would do it)
