i am sooooo knackered!!

Spent saturday at Oulton Park taking pics of Time Attack / Drifting.

Sunday picked up Ice Cavern Pete and headed to Thruxton for some more photography.

Had a good day. Ginetta car banging in first race was excellent start to the day lol.

Me and Pete ended up having a battle of who can take a good pic at silly low shutter speeds! :D

Will post up some later. Good to the Seat boys still flying the flag on the hill, but the wee scouts decided to put up an even bigger flag!

Was a good day out. Haven't had time to go through the shots yet, although during the import Aperture told me there were 1729 shots in total  Based on trying to pan at 1/20 s whilst freezing to death I'm not expecting much hehehe

Note to self, must buy that VR lens ;)

Wondered if she was anyone inparticular as the Sun newpapers were taking loads of photos of her and interviewed her for about 15 minutes (I'm sure the article will be a rivetting read!)

Just took a quick look at the sports section on the Sun's website and:

WATCH out later this week for great SunSport Online video interviews with Jason Plato, returning touring car hero James Thompson, veteran star Dave Pinkney and ITV’s Mr Smooth Steve Rider. Plus Plato’s exclusive Racin’ Jason column – and a close-up look at the championship’s gorgeous new grid girls. The BTCC – We Love It.

I guess that covers it Warren.

I rely heavily on the VR when using the 2x teleconverter, particularly when hand holding. I was using the 70-200 f2.8 VR yesterday with the TC2.0, and it is outstanding (particularly when the light levels dropped). Just wish I could afford a fixed prime 300 or 400mm, but as a hobbyist it's a price too far for me.

I was using my Sigma 300+1.4. If I'd known you had that 70-200 I'd have been badgering you for a quick go. Just to see how it compares to my 80-200 :D

It's the best lens in my rucsac, and the one part of my kitbag I couldn't relinquish. Need some new EN-EL4 batteries though as the VR can lay heavy on older batteries.

Yesterday was running these Nikon lenses:

AF 12-24 f4 (in the paddock)
AF 28-70 f2.8 (for the podiums)
AF 70-200 f2.8 (on the track - mixed in with teleconverter TC-20E II when I couldn't get close).

Running two bodies to save lens changing (D2H for track shots and a D70s for portraits and paddock).

Wanting a newer D3 body at some point, but they have just jacked the prices up again [:@].

The D3 is rather nice ;) I only took my 300mm with me, mostly used with the 1.4tc on it.

Bar-steward!!! The D3 leaves the old D2 series well in its wake and a major step change forward with full frame, high speed drives and MP ratings. I'm only on 4.66MP!!!

Can not wait for donnington my old canon powershot A70 died on me so i got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 with 27mm Wide-Angle 18x Zoom see what shots i can get out of that

I find zoom is king at the race track as you can't ever get close enough as a spectator! 18x zoom will get you some decent subject matter in the frame which you will benefit from.

Just be aware you may have to time your shots carefully as some electronic shutter systems suffer from lag. My wife has to pre-empt the shot on her Canon digital compact (10x zoom) and press about 0.5 seconds ahead of the subject coming into the image. Otherwise she only gets 1/2 the car due to the lag between pressing the button and the photo actually taking. Get a good vantage point on a corner or at the end of a straight to get some practice in as the cars will be decelerating. Motorsport photography is a bit of an artform, and I still need LOADS of practice!!

Yeah but you loose the crop factor. I really want a D3x, but I need to generate some more cash from the business to be able to justify that.

Oh and fully agree with the practice point. It's the only way to really get good shots. In fact I push myself to go for stuff that really is bordering on insane, like panning through the complex at 1/20s, because once you start getting the odd one of those that works, higher speeds get easy  I've not shot any motorsport for 8 or 9 months probably now, so I'm wayyyyy out of practice, very low keeper rate. But then I'm a bit fussy so bin loads of "almost" shots anyway.

VR doesn't work....................

LOL

For you... :bleh: Some people need more help than technology is capable of :runaway:
