reciept of what as i didnt buy the car from a dealer and the MAF in it is the one from new

You just bought another MAF and got a receipt from GSF. Take it back with the old MAF and the bloke behind the counter should give you a nice crisp £20 note, or a manky old one if that's what's on top.

At a guess, it gets sent back to the factory and taken apart and rebuilt with a new sensor in the same lump of plastic. It's cheaper as only the sensor nees replacing.

You get other bits on exchange, I've had a starter motor and steering rack. Would have had a gearbox on exchange too but I blew a hole the size of a 50p in the casing.

Think of it another way. You aren't buying anything.

What you are doing is paying Bosch to repair your faulty MAF. But instead of your one going to them for repair and the car being off the road for 2-3 weeks what they do is give you one they have already repaired and you give them back the broken one. The £20 is a security deposit in case you don't give your one back. If you're taking your one with you you don't pay the £20 and you just swap MAFs.

As DPJ was hinting they don't sell new ones anymore, just remanufactured.

As to descreening, no idea, depends on if they notice or care.

wtf?

you hand your old one back you get a new one at discounted price, you dont hand yours back you get a new one without any discount!

you seem to be confusing the whole procedure
