Broken MAF clip - cause for concern?

I was tidying up my cold air feed to my ramair today when I heard a cracking noise :( Turned out I had twisted the maf and cracked the eyehole which is used to secure kit to bracket which utilises standard fixing hole. This bracket is very feeble and I've heard this happen before. I now need a new MAF despite they been nothing wrong with the actual MAF. The ramair is effectively been held my the TIP and cold air feed now until I replace it. I'm worried about the MAF vibrating now its not retained.Should I be it will only be like this for a few days.

How much are they too please and has anybody got the part number for a 2004 LCR 225.

I've taped it up to support it but theres still movement.

cordo you will know the part I mean. So it's ok to run the car with it unsupported for time being?Fitted my cold air feed today still loud but nowhere near as loud as ours without the feed!

I'll have a try get me by temporarily. Dv is louds quieter with feed and actually feels less reponsive with the feed. I might remove it tomorrow after work. Originally I had ramair with no feed and I had removed the original airbox one too. Anybody had similar experiences?

this the fella (only on the opposite side) you are on about damo yea?
I broke mine also but glued it back on then left it suspended on its own weight with a little rubber buffer underneath to hold it rather than rebound.

I've removed the cold air feed as the 80mm inner diameter gets crushed to half it's size to fit it into the original plastic air routing behind the headlight. I didn't feel I was getting enough cold air to the ramair through it so left the plastic seat housing in to ensure all the cold air goes towards the ramair rather than towards the engine! Car seems like it breathes better now and is alot smoother, and louder ;)

Would need airflow readings to prove the difference but think it's better without especially in terms of noise, but with feed it felt like it was holding back on me under acceleration.

Now I have no cold feed I am running the risk of warm engine heated air getting to the induction kit, especially in warm weather. I missed the roar and I know some people trade the fact they may loose a bit of airflow if they want some noise with an open filter etc but I can honestly say I think there is very little difference with it on or off. I remember robdon saying he didn't think an open filter without a feed would be an issue. I haven't got an open filter but same rule applies.

I have superglued the bracket clip on the MAF until I get source a new MAF. Has anybody manufactured a second clip to hold the MAF/Ramair as I don't want this happening again! Is it something you can buy off the shelf or is it a DIY job?

damo in my worthless opinion, the cold air duct can only do so much, regardless of how much air it can route in, leaving it off will do just as well, hot air really isnt a problem if your doing 20mph plus as the air isnt getting time to get hot before its whisked back or out of the bay.

Thats what I thought mate too and yes that's the clip that broke! That one bracket has a lot of work to do holding ramair up I wonder if there is anywhere a second bracket could be fitted?

Also, when you painted yours was it easy? Like the silver but mine has a few scratches on it from previous owner.

piece of piss mate, i used a little primer and mostly paint, did it in around 8-10 stages to get a nice flat non rippled finish, then i dented it a while back! haha.
As I said earlier, ive got nothing actually holding the maf/kit still, in fact giving it a little movement is probably better than tieing it to something rigid.

I disagree, I think a large wide duct of cold air is like a reservoir for the turbo to pull on.

I ran mine without that bracket for a long time. I think it puts chassis shocks directly onto the maf that can otherwise be 'cushioned'.

I might just replace the MAF then and do as you done which was the way it was designed by raid. I twisted the ramair before undoing the bracket which is why it cracked! I doubt I will be the last person to do it!

well using some jubile clips on both end maf and air filter followed by some few cable ties this will strongly hold it in place. Link the cable ties to each jubile clip, the fasten the jubiles and tight the cable ties

I did away with the support to the MAF after this picture- too much direct body shock. You'll see There's a flexible bracket off the suspension tower. When I put it back on, I'm going to put a short samco between the filter and MAF to take the weight of the filter off the Maf. (I've a Forge TIP on now).
