Only noticed this today but the boot open light was lit after loading my boot up so naturally i stopped and opened n shut the boot....its still on...not very bright though probably about half the strength of the other dash warning lights.

what could cause this I've unloaded the boot checked for obstructions etc and opened n shut the boot quite hard a number of times with no success.

Check if there is any fluid around the catch area. I had this on mine and it was the pipe had popped off from the screen wash. Seems weird though as its not been freezing for it to happen...

hmmm the washer has been a little bit weak i guess, i will have a check. does seem odd that it's not fully lit.

how do you get to it all to see if it has popped off or is leaking a bit?

Its a tough job trying to pull the trim off. I ended up taking mine to the dealer and they fitted a new wiper motor as it was faulty ans causing the leak.

Thing is I ended up buying the LCR they had in the showroom ;) when I went to collect my TDi Cupra. I thought warranty work was free :(

lol. well I finally got the trim off and couldn't see any sign of any leaks but taped up all the bits and covered all the electrical plugs with tape too just incase and the light is still on very dim but it's still there and set the car alarm off last night ...grrrrrr.

starting to loose my patience with this, only problems with this car have been related to the washers! what, where, how else could this be caused?! loosing hair rapidly

update on this, after hours today trying to get the boot trim off safely....mine seemed to be pretty stubborn! I found it wasn't even that connection that had popped off!

So I taped it up anyway and put it all back on pretty pee'd off and myth'd, only as I was cleaning the dirt I left on the boot carpet did I notice a patch that foamed up slightly as the vacuum went over it....at first I thought it was just the rain water that had got in, but then I questioned why it foamed up (not like fairy liquid but best word i can think of to describe).

So off came the side carpet and panels and there it was the leaky pipe and soaking wet everything from my testing earlier to see how the boot connection was leaking...it was a right soaky state so operation mop up commensed and all is working fine again! seems as I used the rear jet it sprayed out of the connection all over the electrics that are right next to it (question seat on that positioning!?) hairdryer was out and we are all good as new apart from a still slightly damp boot.

Very chuffed won't be woken up now by the car alarm going off and it also explained a lot of things like the weak rear washer and sometimes all the windows being steamed up in the morning.

If this hasn't happened to you yet for the amount of time it takes atleast sort out the connector in the wheel arch area of the boot and you only need to remove one trim panel and the carpet.
