Boost hose popped off

So my lower boost hose gave up this morning, half way up a hill. Wonderful. Limped home and have managed to refit it, with added cable ties to try and support it. The barbs look like they were damaged as it popped off, and the seal was stretched to hell. Has anyone had much luck with the hoses staying on after they've popped off?

Also, which replacement parts are best?

So far as I can tell, theres Samco, SFS, Forge or replacement originals to choose from.

Zip ties will hold it pretty well for quite a while (Mine have been on for 10,000 miles and still no movement)

Just check them every few 1000 miles and replace if broken. B&Q ones at £3 work well.

Regards to the seal, if it looks crap, a few quid for a replacement.

You're lucky. Its my hose which goes straight from the turbo which has popped off and is now really loose. No cable ties will work as they will melt!

Hmm, might be brave and give it a blast at full throttle tomorrow then. I'm really not sure the barbs engaged at all though on the top side. It pushed all the way in, Clip went on. Started it up and revved it, and it looks like the top side of the pipe has shifted already. The barbs did look in a bit of a state where they'd popped out though.

Tried it at full throttle and it held, I'm going to get replacements though. I'm pretty certain the old hoses were leaking even with new seals, and at present the only thing holding it is the cable ties. The barb got damaged when it popped off I think.

It's also leaking on the bend straight out of the turbo, so may look to replace that at some point too.

The bottom one is quite common to pop off, and the only way to fix it is with various bodges as even a brand new will pop off due to crap design.

This is why I'm looking to replace it with one of the uprated versions from SFS/Samco/Forge. Similar price to a Seat part (from what I can gather) and supposedly more robust. Not much evidence online of people actually using them though.

You are right there, ordered a new coupler for the egr valve and while it is secure, the stupid clip design thought by an idiot still has play. I used two jubilee clipes each side with cable ties in between and doesn't move.

Well I'm now considering doing a better job of bodging it for now, then once I'm back at work, fitting an FMIC so it has decent cooling for the remap I wanted to get!

I just got my map tweaked since fitting decat exhaust and fmic, 18 months ago ran 173hp, yesterday's pre tweak, ran 179hp, final result is 184 hp but deliverability is bettter, my pd130 turbo is not safe for anymore apparently

This happened to mine yesterday aswell, took the pipe and the intercooler off and drilled two small holes through the intercooler plastic, through the metal on the pipe and then screwed in two self tapping screws. They are very small ones aswell. It will now never come off unless i need it off and wont leak as the screws are above the seal. Happy day :)

that's what I did and didn't come off again until after about 18months the hose burst on the elbow. I then fitted the kit from SFS. but I think there are better options now.
