Bonnet Bra Damage!

Right i bought a bonnet bra because on monday im driving to aberdeen from portsmouth and thought it might be a good idea to get one to protect a little bit against chips, Now i have been reading various articles on the damage people have been getting as a result of using bonnet bra's mainly in the wet and leaving them on.
Can someone clarify if i drive and get halfway up to aberdeen and it rains do i remove the bra? do they cause damage thus deeming them pointless to the cause and contradicting the purpose! Should i bother? or will the fact that it will only be on for a day be ok! its bound to rain tho its scotland! really dont want to feck my paint!

I've heard too many bad stories about these.
TBH the stone chips can be filled and buffed, bonnet bra damage could need a bonnet respray.
Bonnet bra's don't protect the A pillars or the wings.

to be honest why bother? so long as you have been using a decent wax and have built up a layer then I dont see the point, your more likely to scratch the paint work putting one on/taking off. Small chips are a fact of life and can be hidden with decent polish then a good wax.

its more a long term thing mate. i.e. my dad left one on his mk1 beetle for a year or so and what was once red, is now pink! its the same issue that people have with waterproof car covers. bonnet bra's are very good at preventing bonnet chips and look cool so if your going to use it again its definitely worth it, however that said, its more of a winter thing as you wont be suffering from grit on the road that much at the moment
