Im thinking about this for a few days. my leons comes with front and and rear bumper strips (black ones).

Im thinking if i remove the strips in the front and rear bumper, then fill the gaps and respray!Leaving the door ones just spray them

Has any one dones this before? my front bumper has been upgraded,

A bit to much work I think.
Just get them resprayed in the same red as the car.

(and there is a bolt under each bumperstrip to hold the front)

I've been thinking about doing the same thing - my Leon's even the same colour as yours! I think it would look good, but didn't know about the bolts behind the strips... might have to pull the strips off to see where exactly they are...

They just prise out. One of the front bumper mounting points is underneath the front one at each side.

Really ?

That makes my bodyshop guy a sneaky bastid

Or he just didn't think it was worth mentioning :p

I got the corner strips removed and filled and never had any problems with the bumper coming loose (and it was off and on again at least twice)

leave the screws out - the centre guides and other mounts are usually tough enough to cope

bin the door mouldings to oor they'll look odd

must admit i like the look on the toledo - V.smooth

Pegged through square holes cut into the outer doorskin :-(

I'd like to get mine filled and sprayed at some point ... in a sick kinda way it would be the silver lining should anyone run a key down the side of it - hopefully never come to this though

Great minds think alike and all, its one of my plans too!
I thought about leaving the screws out too as LCR's dont have screws through the bumper I presumed it would be ok.
I am thinking of getting a spare bumper to do the work on the take it for paint.
The hole left is quite deep though so is it a case of plastic welding ?

How do you plastic weld?

Just filler - well keyed in and left proud so it can be shaped back when it's dry

The back bumper's full of the stuff :p

Plastic welding's not much cop for exterior parts as I understand it, cos you still need to fill/smooth any gaps afterwards and then you're just left with thin slivers of filler that are more likely to crack and flake off :(
