^ I nearly have on several occasions but having worked in a customer service environment I know that losing my rag won't get me anywhere, as it stands I've done pretty well out of all this hassle, and it's not as though I've been without a car as I've been driving one of theirs around for God knows how long whilst my old Leon FR sits in their compound losing them money.

I've now spoken to SMC who have said that all of the repair work is complete and looks "much better" and the spoiler has been fitted, I'm going to pick it up on Monday which is when they'll sort out my freebie boot tray and service pack.

Probably prove more reliable... :lol:

Cant imagine how expensive these new twincharged dsg cars are going to be to fix once there out of warranty... SEAT take the piss at the best of times.. imagine getting the bill for a new DSG box..

My dad's '04 A6 Avant with 'multitronic' gearbox started causing problems of the electrical sort last year while we were on holiday in Italy of all places. Audi wanted to replace the entire gearbox for about £4,000 i think, but speaking to a trusted source they said it was more likely the control unit for the 'box, rather than the 'box itself. Anyway, we ordered a new Control unit from an independent specialist, had to get shipped from Germany, clearly a part that doesn't often fail.

After fitting it had cost about £1500, and everything back to normal. But after our experience (car loosing all drive on a mountain road :censored: and going into limp mode on the M1) we've lost trust in these 'boxes now, mechanical faults can be diagnosed/fixed/replaced but these new ones are so complex can't help but fear for the worst after warranty :think:

Anyway, glad to hear SEAT finally getting things sorted for you.

Well...WHAT A BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT ******G ****S! (I'll leave it to your imagination)

So I went to the gym this morning in anticipation of picking up the repaired replacement brand new Boc from SMC and was looking forward to actually getting the car and putting all of this to bed. At about 11:30 I went back to my locker in the changing room to find that I had a missed call from SMC and a voicemail asking me to ring them back, I knew straight away that there must be a problem. I phoned them and was told that on the way back from their bodyshop where the spoiler had been fitted the car had managed to pick up a stone chip on the bonnet!

As luck would have it my Dad who's a panel beater was not at work today and so I picked him up and made my way down there, to say I was in a bad mood would the understatement of the century. On arriving we looked at the car and saw the stone chip, had it been on any other panel on the car you probably wouldn't have noticed it but there it was sitting right at the front of the bonnet almost winking back at me, then I found the smart repair on the front bumper not to be quite so "smart" and the the paint on the spoiler was quite simply...shocking.

The sales manager then tried to explain to me how he would get the same person who repaired the bumper to sort the bonnet out, after I protested he then tried to wax lyrical about how he was going to get their bodyshop to "blow in" and "localize" the paintwork, utter bollox, and I'm glad my Dad was there to tell him so, the guy even admitted that the paintwork on the spoiler was shite...

I say again...WHAT A BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT ******G ****S!

I've rejected it and said I want another one, their problem, they can sort it out as I'm *****d right off with them, and the best part is that I think SEAT UK have even had enough of clearing up after their mess as they appear to have pulled the ladder up, apparently they're expecting my third replacement brand new Boc mid-June, I won't hold my breath though.

****S!

Sorry to hear this mate. Gutted for you, all you want is a flippin car that does what it says on the side of the box. Well mines going back there to sort out the rattle from the DSG and all the other bits and bobs that were wrong. Not happy to say the least with mine at the moment. Its the rattles and vibration noises that are doing my head in. Least with my Focus ST2 all I had were creaky door seals and that was it. Was thinking of staying with Seat in the future and getting a Leon Cupra next however I am seriously thinking Ford again and wait and see what the new ST is like when it comes out.

REally feel for you chap[:@]:cartman::censored::wtf:

So they drove it to some back street spray monkey Giving it the beans all the way. Then when they spotted the stone chip they thought they would get the spray monkeys to have another crack at it.

I've seen some of these (localised) (blow ins) being done and I've also seen some after a few months when the weather has made the very thin paint go like crazy paving or flake off.

Utter dribble IMO, make them supply a new car and get seat to deliver to a different dealer too.

Hope you get it sorted, seems the dealer has little or no clue regarding 'fit for service or as the customer expects'.....[:@]

As mentioned above I'd speak to someone and say you have lost total confidence in this dealer and wish to be dealt with by someone who is competent, as these jokers obviously aren't.

Best of luck mate.

^ Nah mine's white, I pushed them to give me racing breaks but it was a no go, the salesman who I dealt with initially is called Craig.

I know that a lot of people are probably thinking "why doesn't he just get a refund and go elsewhere!" which I could do if I chose to, the simple answer is that I've invested so much time & effort and have secured quite a few bits and bobs along the way as goodwill including a service pack, an additional boot tray, a spoiler and now some side skirts that if I give in and take my car back now they're off the hook, and all I'd be left with is a car that has depreciated in value and nothing else to show for all the grief :(

^ Yeah this'll be the third brand new Boc that they've ordered for me, if you look round the back you should see at least one Boc parked round there, that's the first one that I refused, God knows what they're doing with the one I turned down yesterday. I've even said that I don't want the spoiler and skirts painted/fitted this time cos I don't want them to ***k it up again, just having them in primer.

I ordered at the end of March and it was apparently in there compound which turned out to be bollox!

***THE EAGLE...OR RATHER THE BOC HAS LANDED, AT LAST!***

After my last post on the 11/05 I was feeling pretty despondent about the whole situation, so much so that until a couple of days ago I hadn't been back to these forums because quite frankly I just found it downright depressing!

However, I am now pleased to report that I went to pick up the second brand new Bocanegra replacement from the stealers yesterday and it's more or less perfect, so much so that the front bumper looks as though it's been painted with laser precision [currently imagining a crazy Spaniard SEAT factory worker with a red dot sight affixed to his spray gun]. There are a couple of very very minor imperfections on the interior but nothing I haven't experienced before when buying a brand new car, and certainly nothing that would justify waiting for another.

So after my initial order on 26/03; having been told that the car was in SMC's compound...which it wasn't, a crappy Bocanegra, a replacement that was nearly as bad and a botched attempt at salvaging it I have finally got the car that I ordered, yes it's been a pain but to be honest I'm glad that I've stuck with it, not least because I've been given:

1 x fixed cost service AND maintenance pack@£600 (approx.) - previously I thought I was only getting the service pack;
1 x protective boot tray@£65 - SMC mistakenly ordered this instead of the additional boot tray, but they've said that I can keep it anyway;
1 x additional boot tray@£110;
1 x side skirts@£179;
1 x tailgate spoiler@£102

Plus I've had the use of a fully loaded, albeit filthy, 07 plate Altea since March which has meant no wear & tear or insurance costs, just diesel.

All-in-all I don't think I've ended up with a bad deal, I was happy with the price of the car and the amount I got for PX'ing my Leon FR in the first place, plus a £1000 SEAT customer loyalty discount and around somewhere in the region of £1000 worth of extras, it's been worth it for not having to pay a bean for servicing and maintenance for the next 3 years alone :D

I really appreciate everyone's input and support throughout this thread, and really hope that no-one else has a similar experience to mine. To be fair SMC have rectified the situation and come good in the end, for which I am very grateful and I will be writing a letter of gratitude rather than complaint this time to thank them for their efforts.
