Roughly between 4 - 7k rpm!
Hi all

Had a long play with one of these in my standard LCR at the weekend. I was well suprised. The car in question was the 3.0 model. We were pulling out on dual carriageways to overtake others and i was right behind him all the time. Had to back off for a couple of split seconds the odd time but apart from that almost the same performance.

When i got infront, he stayed inches from my bumper. I was under the impression that they would of been slightly faster than the leon. He was giving it stick as well cos i could hear the engine note when behind and infront. It sounded sweet.

Wondered if other people had shown other BMW drivers up?

Used to be able to keep up a fair bit with the 1.9 Z3s in my Rover 214Si and in the Toly if I pushed both of them. The 2.0l Z4s aren't that quick and my mums 20 year old Saab 900 Turbo Classic Convertible wipes em :p

Cheers. But don't need a moment of bragging. Was jsut letting others know about the comparison between so called sports coupes and a semi-hot hatch. Had to laugh though when we turned off. His face was hilarious. Wish i had a TDi badge on the back! Would of made it much more funny!

Yeah of course,

I'm sure when i was down Bmw dealers the other day, it was about £9 for a 330ci badge, fits straight on the 316 's

330 tested 0-60 of 5.9 secs and top end of 153 in Evo

I can understand what you mean. Forgot to mention this guy had the roof down with his missus inth car. We were going in excess of 130 (Kph obviously) a few times also. I certainly wouldn't of liked to been in his passenger seat. I once used to show up 320i's years back when i had my modded Corsa Sri

lads tested figures for the Z4 3.0 are

5.8 - 60 and 155 limited top end.

Its not that i doubt any of the above nor your car, but never judge a car on one experience.

I do imagine not all drivers give it all or know how to get the max performance out of em, but the Z4's ain't slow.

I had a play with one last year and on the corners he showed me a clean set of rearlights as he disappeared off, and when we was a the Ring last year there was an english plated Z4 3.0 and he went passed everything as if he was on steroids.

Its not all about straigh line speed, as a high powered rear wheel drive car will always piss on a Front wheel drive over point to point.

I for sure am going this route next, and the M coupe is topping my list still, but thats a long off.

I know this guy was giving it the tops cos i know his driving. I've raced him in his other cars and he doesn't hang about to say the least. I never mentioned by the way that i actually kinda lost. He overtook me round a dual carriage way bend when i backed off. I was just talking about the pick up prob about 70+ we were almost identical

My Dad has a 3.0 Z4 with the Sequential manual gearbox and it is very swift! I wholeheartedly agree with a sub 6 second 0-60. It also has launch control which is fun at the lights!!

Mate you brag all you want!

I killed one in my LCR (standard at the time). These two slick nouveau-riche sorts in looking at the lights as if they were going to see me off. The lights went on green and as soon as I went into 3rd they were behind me. I slowed down and let them past. The bloke driving looked gutted. How my girlfriend and I laughed.

It could have been the hairdressers 2.0 one? All I am saying is I have been in LCRs (standard and chipped) and the Z4 is up there with them.

I wasn't bragging. If I was I'd tell you all about my 12" **** ;)
