On my previous car, Toyota Auris, I had this Bluespark Tuning Box. At the time is was very difficult, if not impossible to hack and remap the denso ecu used.
As for this car it is indeed possible to remap and there are loads of people who have done this. But since this company can actually take my tuning box and reprogram it for my new car I decided to go that route for now. Only £59 it's a lot cheaper than a remap. I know it's not as good as a custom remap but for now it means I can re-use an old tuning box
It taps into the boost and map sockets.
Leon 1.2 (link to buy new).
I decided to install it attached to the ecu housing....
First I removed the air filter box to gain access to the MAP sensor....
Plugged in the wiring loom. Then plugged in the loom into the boost socket.
Then put the air filter box back.
I decided to attach the tuning box to the side of the ecu metal housing.
I drilled a couple of holes so I could mount a piece of wood which I will then mount the tuning box to
Then with some foam on the back of the tuning box and wood I screwed it all together.
With the wiring loom tidied up and zipped tied it was time to take it for a spin....
I have left the tuning box on the default setting.
Jumper in the middle. Like my last car, I'll do a few days then step it up 1, then again in another few days.... Until I max it out.
The dial 1-9 isn't used on a petrol so has been disabled.
Using this brand/box on my last car I never had any issues with it maxed out. It made a difference on torque and mpg. I know this won't effect mpg as much, if any, on a petrol, but I'm hoping it helps with turbo flat spots...
