Blinking pre glow plug and yellow solid engine management sign

Hello friends,

I have a Seat Altea 1.6 TDI CR 105 style. Year 2010. 107000 km. Manual transmitter.

Recently I am having a problem, explained below:

For the first time it happened 3 days ago, I was in the road and to be honest for the first time I filled car with fuel/diesel in a fuel station which I never did before(because I always fueled in the same fuel station and never changed it). I am not saying if that is the problem but I have some doubt that perpahs diesel quality in that station wasn't proper.

I drove about 100km after that station and I stoped the engine for about 15 minutes to rest, when I turned it on again, after about 5 seconds it showed the yellow glow plug sign blinking. First I thought it has something to do with glow heater or something and I drove away, but car started to lose power and decelerate, especially going uphill roads, and while I am in 2nd or 3rd shift car doesnt reach more than 2800r/m.

After going home and turned the engine off and turned it on again after 20 minutes the sign didnt show again that day. But it showed up in the next day while I was driving, in urban, about 50km/h, it goes off again after turning the engine off for an hour. Then yesterday, when I turned the car on the yellow solid enginge management sign also appeared immediately after turning the car ON and after few seconds the blinking glow plug sign also. Symptoms are the same.

I appointed for a day after tomorrow a local specialist to examine the car and look for fault codes but until then I'd like to hear from you if you had similar issue before and if you have any suggestion or advice for me.

It's a bit disappointing to see that nobody in this forum had a clue, or maybe didn't want to answer to my question. It wasn't that deep, it's something that happens to almost all Diesel cars. I came back to inform you what the problem was and how I fixed it but since I saw that nobody gave a ffff about this issue, I am just letting it go.

Maybe you did not hear from anyone as no-one has had the same issue as you and therefore could not help you.

Maybe sharing your resulting findings may help someone else in the future.

As I haven’t had a Diesel for approx 8 years I know I couldn’t help you.

We are all learning things.

Please allow some thoughts from a longtime member:
Take into account, that the prime time for discussing issues about and topics around our model ALTEA was more than 10 years ago ... it's getting quiet in others boards as well, as it seems, that every little faulty behaviour, each OBD coding, every retrofit and up to the last partno has already been discussed. Plus production of the ALTEA ran out 3 years ago.

I've read your post and - as I only have driven petrol cars so far - cross checked/searched in my favorite SEAT community, whether there was a similar issue mentioned ... no specific hints from there, especially because the fault code(s) were lacking, which you were obviously going to get from the dealers the other day.
Would an answer like "See your dealer, as for any remote diagnostics error codes come in handy" helped you a lot? Certainly not, as you already had that idea yourself.

Only 3 1/2 days later you're complaining about missing feedback and that you were let down.
As a new member you could've contributed to the forum's "knowledge" by posting something, that could help others searching for a similar issue ... but instead you behave stubborn. Maybe think about your attitude.

If the result of the fault code check was something like this
P040700 EGR position sensor -- signal low
there is a promising post in a German SEAT board, which I'll quote (translated) here:
"before replacing [the EGR valve & exhaust cooler], either yourself or the garage should first measure the signal (position sensor) (EDIT: of course directly on the sensor, not read out via OBD, etc.). And then of course, remove the EGR valve, clean it by hand and track the signal. Only then I would think about an exchange. Maybe just a cable is broken somewhere or there is a contact problem."
