...and some pretty hefty penalties if you get stopped and they dip your tank !

Suppose the chances depend where you live, where you buy it from & who knows - but I wouldn't risk it.
Plus I doubt red diesel is anywhere near the quality as normal pump fuel ?

A PD turbo is between £600 for an exchange item to £1800 for a new unit btw depending on the car, PLUS labour. personally, why bother. you get what you pay for.

Most Supermarket Diesel and Low Sulphur Diesel contains Bio Diesel. Stay well clear imho

Most pumps in europe have min 5% Biodiesel now and its not just supermarkets here either!

I'm gonna be trialing it on my 1.4 PD Tdi when I get it back, as I do over 600 miles a week in it! Any problems will be sure to arise pretty soon so I'll keep you all posted!

Just to let you know I'm using B75 at the mo covered over 300 miles and noticed no difference apart from a subtle sweet smell from the exhuast rather than the nasty diesel one.

DONT DO IT...im a plant engineer and some of our customers have been using the stuff, dunno why when they could just be using red but anyway. Had to strip a clyinder head last week it was full of s**t, injectors were nackered and needs a new fuel pump....not cheap :)

Spend the cash on decent fuel and it'll save you money in the longrun.

Can't see why that was, the bio i'm using is EN and DIN standard and my manual says I can use it so thought I'd give it a go! Just spent a grand on a new head for it last week. There are alot of horrer stories but am gonna try it myself cos the savings for me will be well worth it if there are no problems.

UPDATE: 2000 miles covered and no noticeable differences in power or mpg. Startup and idle is lumpy on icy mornings but never the less it has started on first turn everytime. Running approx B75

Agree, I test used engine oils and I've seen a increase in numbers since the start of Biodiesel. Thing is the OEM's never used Biodiesel as a reference fuel when testing the engines.

Who knows what it does in the long term.....What I see is a massive increase in engine oil fuel dilutions. Typical 6-7% and upwards. The average fuel dilution (if any) before biodiesel was on the UK scene was 1-2% max (unless major engine problem)

I think the goverment put lots of pressure on OEM's to included that biodiesel is ok to use now in car handbooks.
