hello there, i know the best way to do big turbo coneversions is to bolt it on and map it straight away , but i was wondering could you fit the turbo and possibly leave it on a 130 base map or indeed a 130remapped ecu for a while , could the ecu control the larger turbo ok ( adaption etc) or would the first it came full chatter cack itself ,

im ordering the bugger tomorrow and i know i cant sit n look at it for a month ,

hope i get sensible replies , cue carlo

If you have enough fuel injected then I think it wouldn't be any problem.
If not,the turbo will deliver more air but still with the same amount of injection of the previous map.

you can do it, why not?
problem is the car will drive like **** imho. if the map doesn't account for the bigger turbo [i.e. a 'bit' more fueling down low to let it spool up earlier] it'll just push the same boost amount but it will take longer for it to spool up == car will run like ****,,,

the point ben made is right but to a certain extent: the pressure will be the same [same map], there will be just a tiny bit more air cos the turbo will allow better flow [altho the pipes will be the same],,,

I guess there's people on this site who will have much more technical answers than mine,,,

I think the extra amount of air would be so small that it can't hurt,,, these are diesel engines so the air/fuel ratio doesn't need to be that accurate as on petrol cars,,,

If it helps, I ran my hybrid turbo for a good 6 weeks before going to Jabbasport - on the standard pd130 map. The ECU is supposed to limit boost to 1.35 bar in my case, but I guess as the turbo was a bigger one, it was actually pushing 1.5 bar and was rolling roaded at 151bhp before being remapped. There was no harm done and it drove totally fine. :)
